Nacer Chadli (born August 2, 1989) is a professional footballer from Belgium. He plays as a winger, which means he plays on the sides of the field to help attack.
Chadli started his career in the Netherlands with AGOVV Apeldoorn. In 2010, he moved to a bigger club, FC Twente, where he won the KNVB Cup in his first season. Later, in 2013, he joined Tottenham Hotspur in England. Three years after that, he signed with West Bromwich Albion.
Nacer Chadli first played for the Morocco national team in 2010 because his father is from Morocco. However, he decided to play for Belgium the next year. He has played over 60 games for Belgium. He represented his country in the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and 2018, and also in UEFA Euro 2020.

Club Career Highlights
Starting in Apeldoorn
Nacer Chadli played football as a young player at JS Thier-à-Liège, Standard Liège, and MVV Maastricht. In 2007, he joined AGOVV Apeldoorn, a Dutch second division club. He was seen as a rising star there.
Chadli scored his first goal as a professional player for AGOVV in a game against FC Volendam.
Moving to Twente

In 2010, Chadli signed with FC Twente, which was the champion of the Eredivisie league at the time. He quickly became an important player for the team.
He scored his first goal in the Eredivisie against PSV. Chadli also played in the UEFA Champions League for the first time. He scored his first Champions League goal against Tottenham Hotspur and later scored against Werder Bremen.
Playing for Tottenham Hotspur

On July 21, 2013, Tottenham Hotspur agreed to sign Chadli from Twente. He officially joined the team on July 26. He made his first appearance for Spurs in a friendly game against AS Monaco.
Chadli played his first Premier League game on August 18, 2013, against Crystal Palace. He scored his first Premier League goal on February 12, 2014, in a game against Newcastle United.
In the 2014–15 season, Chadli started playing very well. He scored two goals against Queens Park Rangers. He continued to score many goals, including one against Tottenham's rivals, Arsenal. He ended that season with 11 Premier League goals.
Time at West Bromwich Albion
On August 29, 2016, West Bromwich Albion signed Chadli from Tottenham Hotspur. This was a record transfer fee for the club. He made his first appearance for them in a game against Bournemouth.
In his second game for West Brom, Chadli scored two goals and helped with two assists. This helped his team win 4–2 against West Ham United. In the 2017–18 season, Chadli had some injuries. He only played a few games, and his team was moved down to a lower league.
Moving to Monaco and Loan to Anderlecht
On August 30, 2018, Monaco signed Chadli. He joined his Belgium national team friend, Youri Tielemans, there. Chadli played in the Champions League with Monaco.
On August 11, 2019, Chadli went on loan to Anderlecht in Belgium. The player-manager, Vincent Kompany, helped convince him to come back to play in Belgium. Chadli was one of the best players for Anderlecht that season. He scored eight goals and made five assists in 17 league games.
Playing in Turkey for İstanbul Başakşehir
On September 10, 2020, Chadli moved to the Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir. He signed a two-year contract. Başakşehir was the champion of the Süper Lig league at the time.
On November 8, Chadli played his first game for Başakşehir. He came on as a substitute and helped his team win by giving two assists.
Return to Westerlo
On September 6, 2022, Chadli joined Belgian Pro League club Westerlo on loan for a season. On August 18, 2023, Chadli returned to Westerlo permanently with a one-year contract.
International Career
Nacer Chadli has citizenship in both Belgium and Morocco. This meant he could choose to play for either country. He played his first game for Morocco on November 17, 2010, in a friendly match against Northern Ireland.
However, on January 28, 2011, he decided to play for Belgium. He was allowed to do this because he had not yet played in a competitive match for Morocco. He made his debut for Belgium on February 9, 2011, in a friendly game against Finland.
Chadli scored his first goal for Belgium in a UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying game. This was against Azerbaijan on March 29, 2011.
In May 2014, Chadli was chosen for Belgium's team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He also played in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
On July 2, 2018, Chadli scored the winning goal for Belgium in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He came off the bench and scored in injury time. This goal helped Belgium win 3–2 against Japan in the round of 16. This goal was even chosen as the "goal of the tournament" by the BBC!
Style of Play
Nacer Chadli is a very flexible player. He can play in different positions in the midfield. He can be an attacking midfielder, a "number 10" (a player who creates chances), or a winger on either side of the field. He is good with both his left and right feet and has a powerful shot.
