Navbahor Namangan started in 1978. Back then, it was called Tekstilshchik. The team played in the first league of Uzbekistan. For many years, they played in regional zones of the Soviet Second League. In 1990, Navbahor did very well, finishing second in their group. This helped them move up to the Soviet First League. In 1991, they finished 9th in that league.
Since 1992, Navbahor has played in the Uzbek League. They are one of only three clubs that have played in every season of the Uzbek League. In 1996, Navbahor Namangan became the champion of Uzbekistan! Before that, they finished 3rd three times in a row, from 1993 to 1995. They also won the Uzbekistan Supercup in 1999. This is a special match between the league champion and the cup winner.
