The word Negroid was once used to describe people from Sub-Saharan Africa. This term was part of an old idea that divided all human beings into different "races."

For a long time, many people thought there were three main human races. They called these groups Negroid, Mongoloid, and Caucasoid. However, modern scientists and genetic research have shown this idea is wrong. Today, experts agree there is only one human race. We are all part of the same human family.

People who used the term "Negroid" often described certain features. These included a wider nose, curly hair, and dark skin. These features were seen as typical for the "Negroid race."

Understanding Outdated Ideas About Race

In the past, people tried to sort humans into groups. They used physical traits like skin color or hair type. This led to the idea of different human "races."

Why the Idea of Human Races Changed

Scientists now know that human groups are much more complex. Our genes show that we are all very similar. The small differences we see are just variations within one human family.

How Genetics Show We Are One Race

Modern science uses DNA to study human origins. This research proves that human differences are gradual. They do not fit into neat, separate "racial" boxes. The idea of distinct races like "Negroid" is not supported by science.
