Nettleton is a city located in the state of Mississippi, USA. It is unique because it sits across two different counties: Lee County and Monroe County. In 2020, about 1,935 people lived there. The city was officially started in 1888. It was named after George Henry Nettleton, who was the president of a railroad company called the Kansas City, Memphis and Birmingham Railroad.

Where is Nettleton Located?
Nettleton is right on the border between Lee County to the north and Monroe County to the south. The city is split almost evenly between these two counties. In 2020, more than half of its residents lived in Monroe County.
Highways and Waterways
Major roads like U.S. Route 45 and U.S. Route 278 run through the western part of Nettleton. These four-lane highways can take you north about 15 miles to Tupelo, which is the main city in Lee County. If you head south on U.S. Route 45, you'll reach Aberdeen, the main city in Monroe County, about 20 miles away. U.S. Route 278 also goes southeast to Amory, which is about 15 miles from Nettleton. Another road, Mississippi Highway 6, connects Nettleton to Amory and Tupelo as well.
The city covers an area of about 4 square miles. Most of this is land, with a very small amount of water. Water from the western side of Nettleton flows into Town Creek, which then joins the Tombigbee River. Roberts Creek, another stream, flows through the eastern part of the city.
