Nina Nesbitt (born 11 July 1994) is a talented Scottish singer and songwriter. She is well-known for her popular songs like "Stay Out" and "Selfies", which made it into the top 40 charts in the UK and Scotland. You might also recognize her version of Fleetwood Mac's song "Don't Stop", which was used in a famous advert for the department store John Lewis.

Nina Nesbitt released her first album, Peroxide, in 2014. It quickly became number one in Scotland. Her next albums, The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change (2019) and Älskar (2022), were also very successful, all reaching the top 5 in the Scottish Album Charts. Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Nina Nesbitt was born on 11 July 1994 in Livingston, Scotland. She went to a small village school in Bellsquarry. When she was 12, her family moved to Balerno, near Edinburgh. Her parents, Mike and Caty, were not musicians. Her father worked in electronics, and her mother, who is from Sweden, worked with children.

Nina plays the guitar, piano, and flute. She started playing the guitar at age fifteen. After hearing Taylor Swift's album Fearless, Nina began uploading her own song covers to YouTube. Starting Out in Music (2011–2012)

Nina Nesbitt's music journey began when she met musician Ed Sheeran in Edinburgh. She asked him for advice and played him a song. Impressed, Ed Sheeran invited her to join him on his European tour. She also got to support another artist, Example, after he heard her cover of his song "Stay Awake".

First EPs and Singles (2012–2013)

Nina released her second collection of songs, called an EP, titled The Apple Tree in April 2012. It quickly became popular, reaching No. 6 on the iTunes charts. In October 2012, she went on her second UK tour to promote her first single, "Boy". This song was released under her new record label, Island Records.

Her third EP, Stay Out, came out in April 2013. The main song from this EP, also called "Stay Out", reached No. 21 on the music charts. Her next EP, Way in the World, was released in July 2013. Nina also recorded a cover of the Fleetwood Mac song "Don't Stop", which became famous after being used in a John Lewis advert. In September 2013, Nina sang "Flower of Scotland" at Hampden Park before a football match between Scotland and Belgium.

Debut Album: Peroxide (2013–2014)

On 25 November 2013, Nina Nesbitt announced that her first full studio album, Peroxide, would be released on 17 February 2014. She went on a tour around the UK to sign copies of her album for fans. Peroxide was a big success, reaching number 1 in Scotland and number 11 in the rest of the UK on the album charts. The first single from the album was "Selfies", released in February 2014.

New Sound and Independent Music (2016–2017)

In 2016, Nina Nesbitt released a new EP called Modern Love. She described it as having a "radical new look" and sound. Her single "Chewing Gum" was first played on BBC Radio 1 and then became available on Apple Music and Spotify. Nina also started a special project called Songs I Wrote for You. She asked fans to send her their personal love stories, and she would write a song based on them. In October 2016, she released a five-track EP called Life in Colour featuring these songs, released on her own label.

Älskar (2020–2023)

Nina Nesbitt continued to release new music, leading up to her album Älskar in 2022. Some of the songs released before the album included "When You Lose Someone", "Dinner Table", and "Colours of You". In November 2022, Nina toured her album throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.

Mountain Music and New Label (2024-present)

On March 4, 2024, Nina Nesbitt announced an exciting new step: she was launching her very own record label, Apple Tree Records! She also released two new songs, "Pages" and "On The Run", which were the first releases from her new label and the first songs from her upcoming fourth album. On April 22, she announced that the album would be called Mountain Music and would be released on September 27.

In July, Nina was announced as the opening act for Stevie Nicks' concerts in the United Kingdom. Later that month, she announced her own headline tour in the UK for October, to promote her new album. Mountain Music was released on September 27 and received many positive reviews. In October, Nina wrote a column for Billboard Magazine about her experiences owning a record label. In November, she was honored with the SGW3 Independent Icon Award by the Scottish Music Awards.

Helping Others: Philanthropy

Nina Nesbitt is also involved in charity work. She participated in a fundraising dinner for mothers2mothers, helping to raise a lot of money for the charity. She also attended the Women in the World Summit, where she discussed the important topic of how body image is affected by the internet.

She has worked with well-known brands like Calvin Klein and American Eagle. She was chosen to attend the Women in the World Summit alongside famous people like Nicole Kidman and Cara Delevingne.
