Noah's Island is a British animated TV show for children. It was made by the same people who created The Animals of Farthing Wood. The show has 39 episodes, each lasting 28 minutes. Even though it wasn't as famous as Farthing Wood, it was still quite popular on Saturday mornings in many British homes, especially with younger kids. The series is based on the Bible story of Noah's Ark. People liked the show for its great characters, exciting stories, and for teaching about important environmental topics.

The Amazing Journey of Noah's Island
The show is all about the adventures of a group of animals living on a floating island. This island used to be part of the Canadian coast until a flaming meteorite hit it! The leader of this animal community is a polar bear named Noah.
On the island, you'll meet two woolly mammoths, Salomi and Mammothsbody. There's also a group of animals from a closed-down zoo who survived a sinking cargo ship. The island floats because it has a core of hot, melted rock called the 'Fire-Bowl', which came from the meteorite. Noah uses the Fire-Bowl to steer the island across the ocean. They are following a map that Salomi's father drew. This map leads to Diamantina, a secret island in the Indian Ocean. Here, the animals hope to be safe from humans. As they travel, Noah and his friends pass by different continents, always helping animals who are in danger.
Meet the Animals!
Here are some of the main characters you'll meet on Noah's Island:
- Noah – He is the main hero of the show. Noah is a male polar bear who finds the floating island while drifting on an ice floe. He becomes the island's captain because he's a strong leader. He's a bit quirky but also very determined. His main goal is to make the floating island a safe home for all animals.
- Mammothsbody and Salomi – These are two very old woolly mammoths. They were frozen in Arctic ice for thousands of years! The heat from the meteorite that formed the Fire-Bowl thawed them out. Mammothsbody is slow and a bit simple, while Salomi is stronger, smarter, and sometimes a bit bossy. In the first season, Mammothsbody often asks Salomi to marry him, but she always says no. They do get married at the end of the first season, but Salomi still often tells Mammothsbody what to do.
- Sparky – A male white rabbit who never speaks. He uses hand gestures and facial expressions to communicate. His small size often leads to funny moments, like when a bigger animal accidentally "squashes" him.
- The Vulture Patrol – This is a group of vultures who act as the island's scouts. They fly ahead to check out other islands or coastlines. The first group included an old, confused vulture called The Squadron Leader, and his two daughters, Shirley and Mildred. Later, a strong but not-so-smart male vulture named "Him" joins them. "Him" and Shirley become a couple and have a baby chick.
Zoo animals
- Rocco – A bold male gorilla who is the island's "Chief Surgeon." He learned some basic medical skills by watching vets at the zoo. Rocco misses his old friend Hetty, who was lost when the cargo ship sank. He starts a relationship with another gorilla named Gertie, but he still thinks about Hetty.
- Woomera – A female red kangaroo who helps Rocco in the island's hospital. She is usually caring and kind, but can be stubborn in tough situations. She often argues with Rocco, who isn't always the brightest.
- Nab – A grumpy male orangutan who speaks with a Scottish accent. He watches over the island's Fire-Bowl and calls himself the "Chief Engineer."
- Jasper – A male proboscis monkey who helps Nab in the Fire-Bowl room. Like Sparky, Jasper doesn't speak words. He makes monkey sounds that others understand. Even though he's a proboscis monkey, other characters always call him a "gibbon."
- The Valve Rhino – A simple male rhinoceros who works with Nab and Jasper. He uses his great strength to push the Fire-Bowl's valve systems. He's usually calm, but can get very angry. He rarely speaks.
- Reg – An arrogant male mandrill who wishes he was human. He often tries to do "human" things, like walking on two legs and looking at pictures in books (he can't read). He's good friends with Rocco, but often acts like he's better than the other animals. At first, Reg was a bit of a bad guy, but later he becomes more of a comic relief character.
- Ursula – A female Eurasian brown bear who speaks with a Welsh accent. She likes to gossip and is a bit self-centered. Even though she's a different type of bear, she has a crush on Noah.
- Chang – A quiet and shy female giant panda. She is close friends with Ursula, but they often argue about small things. Chang also knows how to use hypnosis to calm Rocco's patients, but she's not very good at it.
- The Problem Walrus – A relaxed male walrus who spends most of his time on the beach. He also offers a service where he listens to other animals' problems and gives them advice.
- Tabby and Ena – Two female hyenas who are Reg's bodyguards. In the first season, they each have a mischievous baby. The father of their babies was lost when the cargo ship sank.
- Carmen – An awkward female aardvark who is very sensitive about her long nose and tongue. She can be aggressive, but usually she is polite and calm.
- Agatha – A female giraffe who is a bit of a snob and looks down on other animals. But even though she's snooty, she always helps when her unique giraffe skills are needed. She cares, even if she's a bit ill-tempered.
Rescued animals
- Sacha – A friendly male Russian desman. He always tries to help, even though other animals sometimes find him annoying. Before coming to the island, Sacha performed in a circus in Spain. He dreams of starting his own circus with insects as the stars, and even trains a beetle named "Jeremy" to do tricks.
- Gertie – A female gorilla who grew up in a zoo. Noah and the Problem Walrus rescue her from a cargo plane that crashed. At first, Gertie and Rocco don't get along, but they eventually become a couple and have a daughter.
- Wommie – A male wombat who joins the island after helping Woomera find a bandicoot in Australia. He is brave, loves adventure, and doesn't seem to notice danger. He often tries risky stunts just for fun.
- Tusker – A male African elephant calf. The Vulture Patrol brings him to the island after he gets separated from his family in a desert. Tusker's family, including his 100-year-old Grandfather, arrive on the island later and join the community.
- Grandfather Elephant – A 100-year-old male African elephant who is very wise and knows a lot about ancient Africa. He is the leader of his elephant family. Eventually, his age catches up with him, and he leaves the island for a peaceful end to his life.
- The Lion – A male African lion with no name. He was saved after being shot by hunters.
- Wowee – A spoiled female French Poodle. She was on a boat with her owners that washed up on the island during a storm. Her owners are never found. She joins Reg's group and sees him as the closest thing to a human on the island. She finds it hard to fit in with the wild animals because she grew up as a pet.
- Calanor – A male aye-aye who can hypnotise other animals. When he first arrives, he wants to hypnotise and control the island's community. He later gives up this plan but stays on the island. Even though he lived in Madagascar, Calanor speaks with a French accent.
- Imshee – A male warthog who is an old childhood friend of Rocco's. He moves to Noah's island after Rocco, Noah, and Ursula rescue him from an abandoned zoo in East Africa.
- The Do-Dah – A male dodo chick who hatched from a very old egg found in a cave. He talks like a pirate! For a while, he insists that dodos are not extinct. But then he visits Mauritius and learns how dodos disappeared.
- Natasha – A female golden mole whom Noah and Sacha find in the Arabian Desert. Natasha is very interested in Sacha and even proposes marriage to him. However, she soon rejects him when she meets a male of her own species. Noah brings the moles to the island to help with navigation, but they are not good at it because they can't see well.
- Rita – A very energetic female baboon. She is brought to Diamantina to be Reg's mate. At first, Rita is mean to Reg, but she eventually warms up to him and they become a couple.
- Chip – A stubborn male wallaby whom Gertie and Wommie meet in Australia. He is brought to Diamantina to be Woomera's mate. Even though he is a different species and much smaller than Woomera, they become close friends.
- Tallulah – A female rhinoceros who is brought to Diamantina to be a mate for the Valve Rhino. She is much smarter and speaks better than the Valve Rhino. But despite their different personalities, they fall in love and become mates.
- The Komodo dragon – A scary-looking but very kind male Komodo dragon.
Residents of Diamantina
- Queen Abront – The main villain of the third season. She is a giant, ancient frog who rules Diamantina. She is very powerful and protective of her island. She dislikes any animal that isn't a frog, calling them "Un-Froggables."
- Galeo – Another giant frog and a servant of Queen Abront.
- Morris – Another servant of Queen Abront. He is loyal to her but also friendly and kind. He doesn't see the "Un-Froggables" as a big threat. He is also the smallest of the frogs.
- Gorm – Salomi's father. He is an ancient mammoth who drew the map to Diamantina. He has lived peacefully on Diamantina since the ice age. Like Abront, he is very protective of Diamantina and sees Noah and the other animals as invaders who might disturb his quiet life. He and Mammothsbody have a small rivalry over who is the leader of the mammoths.
