Music Style and Creations

Nerf Herder's Unique Sound

Parry Gripp's band, Nerf Herder, is known for its funny and playful songs. Their music often talks about pop culture and uses humor. They are part of the pop-punk and geek rock music styles. Nerf Herder songs sometimes use references from movies or games to talk about real-life feelings. For example, the song "Ghostbusters III" uses the idea of a movie that never happened to describe dreams that might not come true. Their songs usually have a strong bass sound and use synthesizers. Gripp has also worked with other musicians like MC Lars and MC Frontalot.

Fun Jingles and Novelty Songs

As a songwriter, Gripp creates many different kinds of songs. In 2005, he released a solo album called For Those About to Shop, We Salute You. This album has 51 songs that sound like commercials for different products.

Since December 2007, he has shared a new song every week on his website. He also started a YouTube channel in 2006. On his channel, he makes music for popular internet memes. He also creates music videos for his own fun and silly songs, known as novelty songs.

Music for Brands and Characters

Besides his own songs, Gripp has also created music for advertisements. He wrote a series of Beatles-inspired songs for Wawa Food Markets. He also made songs for the Hallmark Cards e-characters Hoops & Yoyo.

Popular TV Theme Songs

Parry Gripp has sung and written theme songs for many TV shows. These include The Super Hero Squad Show, Ben 10: Omniverse, The 7D, and StoryBots Super Songs.

He also worked with MC Lars on the song "Guitar Hero Hero." This song talks about how video games like Guitar Hero might make kids less likely to learn real instruments.

In 2009, Gripp wrote "The Girl at the Video Game Store" for the 1000th episode of the G4 TV show Attack of the Show!. The video for the song featured the show's hosts.

In 2013, Gripp recorded "Backyard Hodge Podge" for the children's TV show Phineas and Ferb. He even appeared as an animated character in that episode.

He also writes and performs songs for the Netflix children's shows StoryBots Super Songs and Ask the StoryBots. Gripp has also written songs for animated web series like Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss.

"It's Raining Tacos" was also featured in an Amazon.com advertisement in 2017.

Fun Themes in His Songs

Parry Gripp often uses certain themes in his songs.

Nerf Herder Song Themes

In his Nerf Herder songs, the character Captain Kirk from Star Trek is often mentioned. For example, in the "Mr. Spock" music video, Gripp dresses like Kirk. The song suggests that Captain Kirk is a hero, but girls prefer Mr. Spock. In "At the Con," he sings about dressing up as Captain Kirk at comic book conventions.

Gripp also sings about his childhood crush, Vivian, in songs like "Born Weird" and "Vivian." Another common theme in Nerf Herder songs is girls who like specific types of music. Examples include "The Girl Who Listened to Rush" and "Pantera Fans in Love."

Solo Song Themes

In his solo music, Gripp's songs are often about animals and food. He has created playlists on Spotify with these themes. For example, "The Raining Tacos Saga" includes songs like "Raining Tacos" and "Quesadilla Explosion." His "Scary Parry Gripp Halloween Playlist" features spooky songs about animals or food, such as "Zombies Want Your Candy" and "Haunted Cupcake."
