Prenzlau is located in the beautiful Lockyer Valley. This area is in the southeastern part of Queensland, Australia. It sits at the southern end of the Somerset Region local government area.

A Look Back at Prenzlau's History

Early Settlers

Prenzlau was first settled in the 1860s. Many of the first families to arrive were German immigrants. They came from a place in Germany called Uckermark, which is near a town named Prenzlau in Brandenburg. It's believed that the Australian locality was named after this German town.

School and Post Office

The first school in the area, Prenzlau Provisional School, opened its doors on 21 October 1894. A few years later, on 1 May 1900, it became Prenzlau State School. There was also a post office in Prenzlau. It operated for many years, from 1894 until 1968.

Prenzlau State School is a government primary school. It teaches students from Prep (the first year of school) up to Year 6.
