Prezi is a company that makes software for creating cool and interesting presentations. It was started in 2009 in Budapest, Hungary.

Instead of using one slide after another, Prezi lets you create presentations on a big, open canvas. You can zoom in and out to focus on different ideas, making it feel more like a story or a mind map. This is called a "non-linear" presentation.

By 2025, over 160 million people around the world had used Prezi to make about 400 million presentations. The company also offers tools like Prezi Video, which lets you appear on screen next to your visuals, and Prezi AI, which uses artificial intelligence to help you build presentations quickly.

Prezi was created in 2009 by three founders: Adam Somlai-Fischer, Peter Halacsy, and Peter Arvai. The company officially started on May 20, 2009. Just two months later, it got its first big investment from the famous TED conferences. Later that year, Prezi opened an office in San Francisco.

Growing and Going Mobile

In 2011, Prezi released its first app for the iPad. The company also received $14 million in funding from investors to help it grow. The next year, an app for the iPhone was launched, making it even easier for people to use Prezi on the go.

In 2014, Prezi promised to give $100 million worth of free software to schools in the United States. This was part of a program called ConnectED, which was supported by President Barack Obama's government.

New Tools for Everyone

Prezi kept adding new features and tools over the years.

  • 2015: Prezi launched an app for Android phones.
  • 2016: The company released Prezi Business. This version had special tools for teams, like letting people work on a presentation at the same time and seeing how well their presentations performed.
  • 2017: A new, modern version of the software called Prezi Next was released. Prezi also bought Infogram, a company that helps people make charts and maps with data.
  • 2019: Prezi launched Prezi Video. This tool lets you put your presentation visuals right next to you on the screen while you talk, like a weather reporter on the news. It works with popular video chat apps like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • 2024: Prezi introduced Prezi AI. This feature uses artificial intelligence to help you design and organize your presentation just by typing in your ideas.

How Is Prezi Used?

Prezi is used by many different people and organizations, from students making school projects to large companies giving important talks.

In Business and at Conferences

Many famous companies, like IBM and Lufthansa, have used Prezi for their presentations. It's also very popular at big events like the SXSW festival and TED talks, where speakers want to share their ideas in a creative way.
