Rüttenen is a town in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Solothurn, within the Lebern district. Rüttenen is a small but interesting place to learn about Swiss life.

History
Rüttenen is an old place! It was first written about in 1474. Back then, it was called Rüti. A few years later, in 1497, people started calling it die rutinen.
Geography
Rüttenen covers an area of about 8.77 square kilometers (about 3.39 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 69%, is covered by forests. About 22% of the land is used for farming, where crops are grown and animals graze.
Around 8% of Rüttenen's land has buildings and roads. A very small part is rivers or lakes. The town is located at the bottom of the Weissenstein mountains.
Rüttenen includes the main village and several smaller areas called hamlets. Hamlets are like tiny villages. These include Widlisbach, Oberrüttenen, Galmis, Falleren, Brüggmoos, Kreuzen, and Steingrubenquartier. Steingrubenquartier is close to the city of Solothurn.
Coat of Arms
Every town in Switzerland has a special symbol called a coat of arms. Rüttenen's coat of arms is blue. It shows a silver digging hoe. This hoe comes out of three golden hills at the bottom.
