Raline Rahmat Shah (born March 4, 1985) is an Indonesian actress, a person who helps others (philanthropist), a well-known public figure, and a business owner. She became famous in Indonesian entertainment after joining the Puteri Indonesia 2008 contest, representing North Sumatra. She won the title of "Miss Favorite of Indonesia" because many people voted for her.
Her acting career in Indonesian movies began when she played Riani in the popular film 5 cm. She also became well-known in Malaysia for her role in the 2018 action movie Polis Evo 2. Raline received praise for her acting in Surga yang Tak Dirindukan. She won "Best Supporting Actress" at the 2015 Bandung Film Festival and the 2016 Indonesian Box Office Movie Awards. She was also nominated for other awards for this role and for her parts in 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa and Surga yang Tak Dirindukan 2.
Raline is also known for her charity work. She helped start Rumah Harapan Indonesia, an organization that provides a place for children with cancer and other serious health problems to stay while they get treatment. Raline also worked with 3 Little Angels on the "Love ReSolution" campaign, which raises money for sick children who need medical care.
Raline enjoys mountain climbing and has climbed Mount Rinjani in Indonesia and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. She has also started a business in food and drinks. In 2019, she co-founded KISAKU, a coffee shop in Jakarta.

Early Life and Education
Raline Rahmat Shah was born on March 4, 1985, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her father, Rahmat Shah, is a businessman and was a Senator in Indonesia's government. Her mother, Roseline Abu, is a philanthropist and has led a school for children with disabilities called YPAC Medan for a long time. Raline has a mix of backgrounds, including Malay (from Malaysia and Deli Malay), Han Chinese, and Pakistani roots. Her family has connections to Malacca and Johor Bahru in Malaysia and Singapore. She has two younger brothers named Rollin and Rollan.
Raline grew up in Jakarta and Medan before moving to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, in 1998. She went to Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar, a boarding school in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. While there, she directed two school plays and acted in musicals and other theater shows. She won awards for her achievements in sports, arts, and community work. She also received an award for her excellent grades in Business Studies. She earned the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award for her exploration, hiking, and social work.
Later, she attended the National University of Singapore. She studied political science and earned a degree in Political Science & New Media and Communications in 2007. She was a singer for the NUS Jazz club and performed at the Singapore International Festival of Arts twice.

Early Career: 2008–2013
From 2004 to 2008, Raline worked as a part-time model for Mannequin Studios. She also worked in the Public Relations Department of Paragon Medical from 2008 to 2011. She became known in Indonesian entertainment when she competed in Puteri Indonesia 2008, representing North Sumatra. She made it to the Top 5 and was voted "Miss Favorite of Indonesia."
Raline started her acting career in 2012 with her first movie, 5 cm, directed by Rizal Mantovani. The movie is based on a popular novel and tells the story of five friends who learn about true friendship while climbing Mount Semeru, the highest peak in Java. Raline played Riani, the only woman in the group, who is smart and ambitious. The movie was very popular in Indonesia, attracting 2.40 million viewers. It also won "Best Cinematography" at the 2013 Indonesian Film Festival.
Since 2008, Raline has worked a lot as a model for commercials and fashion shows, both in Indonesia and other countries. Her good personality and public image have allowed her to work with many brands and fashion designers. She represented Cita Tenun Indonesia, an organization that helps preserve traditional Indonesian weaving, at the United Nation’s Fashion 4 Development (F4D) program in New York in 2012 and 2013. She also became a brand ambassador for the famous Belgian fashion designer, Diane von Furstenberg, who personally chose Raline.
Recent Work: 2014–Present
Raline starred with Laudya Chintya Bella and Fedi Nuril in Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan (2015). For this role, she won "Best Supporting Female Role" at the 2015 Bandung Film Festival and was nominated for awards at the 2015 Indonesian Film Festival and 2016 Indonesia Box Office Movie Awards. She also sang a song for the movie's soundtrack called "Kekasih di Surga."
In 2016, Raline interned at Teater Garasi, a theater group in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This group's performances have been shown in many international arts events.
In July 2017, she released a new song called "Jadi Milikku," which was a collaboration with Marcell. In 2018, she was a main actress with Shaheizy Sam and Zizan Razak in the Malaysian action film, Polis Evo 2. The movie was released in Malaysia on November 22, 2018, and in Indonesia on April 18, 2019, and it was very successful. She played Rian, an Indonesian police officer.
Raline is known for being a versatile artist and public figure. Her unique look and her ability to speak both English and Indonesian fluently have allowed her to play many different types of characters in movies.
Raline has been the brand ambassador for Wardah Cosmetics since 2016. She was also the face of Pantene for Procter & Gamble in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia in 2012. She has also been a brand ambassador for XL Axiata (2011), Unilever (2012-2013), Hemaviton (2014), Bank Mandiri (2015-2017), and Oppo (2017). Raline was featured as one of Indonesia’s fashion icons in 2014-2015 for Harper’s Bazaar and Elle Indonesia magazines.
Besides films, she has also performed in theater. A notable role was in the 2013 musical Timun Mas: The Musical, directed by Rama Soeprapto, a leading Indonesian theater director.

Helping Others and Business Ventures
Philanthropy
Following her mother's example, Raline is very passionate about volunteer work. She has worked with many charities in Indonesia and around the world, such as the United Nation's High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). In 2017, she co-founded Rumah Harapan Indonesia with Valencia Mieke Randa and Vivy Tolgay. This organization provides a temporary home for children under 17 who have serious illnesses like cancer, tumors, or bone problems. The charity aims to give a comfortable place to stay and support for children from rural areas who travel to big cities for treatment. There are currently six "house of hopes" across Indonesia.
In 2016, Raline worked with 3 Little Angels to start "Love ReSolution." This campaign raises money for seriously ill children who need medical treatment. In 2018, Raline also helped start Yayasan Tunas Bakti Nusantara, a charity that supports education, health, and welfare in remote parts of Indonesia.
Business
On August 8, 2017, Raline was chosen to be an independent director for Indonesia AirAsia. This is the Indonesian part of the Malaysian low-cost airline, AirAsia. Tony Fernandes, the CEO of AirAsia Group, said that Raline was chosen because she is "smart, creative, and humble." He hoped her presence would help AirAsia stay popular with younger people.
Her most recent business project is a coffee shop called KISAKU Coffee in Jakarta, which opened in 2019. "Kisaku" is a Japanese word that means "positive, open, and friendly." This describes the coffee shop's design, which turned an old house into a welcoming coffee shop.
Personal Life
Raline loves to travel and believes in "a world without strangers." She is well known for her love of nature and hiking. This interest began with her first movie, 5 cm, where her character hikes up Mount Semeru, a challenging climb in Indonesia. She has also successfully reached the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Raline uses her large social media platform to remind her audience to respect nature and keep natural places clean when hiking.
Raline is also interested in physical and spiritual well-being. She has said that she believes in staying healthy and helping others who are not well. She regularly practices meditation, yoga, and detox treatments. She finds that these practices fit well with her religious beliefs.
