Rashid Khan Arman (Pashto: راشد خان ارمان; born 20 September 1998) is a famous Afghan cricket player. He is the captain of the Afghanistan national team in T20I matches. He also plays for many teams around the world. These include the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Adelaide Strikers in Australia.
Rashid Khan is known for his right-arm leg spin bowling. He is also a strong right-handed batsman. He is considered one of the best all-rounders in cricket.
In June 2018, Rashid was one of the first eleven players to play in Afghanistan's very first Test match. This historic game was against India. In September 2019, he became the youngest player ever to captain a Test match team. He was only 20 years and 350 days old.
Rashid has achieved many top rankings. In February 2018, he became the youngest bowler to be ranked number one in ICC Player Rankings for both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20Is. Later that year, he also became the top all-rounder in the ICC rankings.
He made history in March 2018 by becoming the youngest player to captain an international team. He was 19 years and 165 days old. He also became the fastest and youngest bowler to take 100 wickets in ODIs. He reached this milestone in just 44 matches. In October 2021, he became the fastest bowler to take 100 wickets in T20I cricket.
Rashid has been the captain of Afghanistan's T20I team several times. In December 2020, he was named the ICC Men's T20I Player of the Decade.

Early Life and Cricket Journey
Rashid Khan was born in 1998 in Nangarhar, Afghanistan. His family is from Jalalabad. They had a tire business in Nangarhar.
When Rashid was young, his family moved to Pakistan for a few years because of the Afghan war. He grew up playing cricket with his brothers. He looked up to Pakistani player Shahid Afridi and South African player AB de Villiers.
Rashid first focused on batting. But he later became very good at leg-spin bowling. He studied computer science at Islamia College Peshawar until 2013. He got into college because of his sports skills. He became well-known in 2014 for his strong performances in matches in Peshawar.
International Cricket Career
Rashid Khan started his international career in 2015. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Afghanistan on 18 October 2015. This match was against Zimbabwe. He also made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against Zimbabwe on 26 October.
Amazing Bowling Records
On 10 March 2017, Rashid took his first T20I five-wicket haul. He took five wickets for only three runs against Ireland. This was the best bowling performance by an Afghan player in a T20I. He was also the first player to take five wickets in just two overs in a T20I match.
In June 2017, he took seven wickets for 18 runs against the West Indies. This was his second ODI five-wicket haul. It was the fourth-best ODI bowling performance ever. It was also the first time a player from an associate nation took seven wickets.
In February 2019, he took a hat-trick and four wickets in four balls in a T20I match against Ireland.
Becoming a Test Player
In May 2018, Rashid was chosen for Afghanistan's first-ever Test match. He made his Test debut on 14 June 2018, against India.
In February 2019, he took five wickets for 82 runs in a Test match against Ireland. He became the first bowler for Afghanistan to take a five-wicket haul in a Test match.
Cricket World Cup Appearances
Rashid was part of Afghanistan's team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April 2019. The International Cricket Council (ICC) called him one of the exciting new talents.
On 1 June 2019, he played his 100th international cricket match. This was against Australia. A few days later, he played his 100th international match for Afghanistan against Sri Lanka.
Leading the Team
After the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Rashid was made captain of the Afghanistan cricket team in all three formats. His first Test match as captain was against Bangladesh in September 2019. Afghanistan won this match. Rashid Khan became the first bowler for Afghanistan to take a ten-wicket haul in Tests. He also scored a fifty and took ten wickets in his first match as Test captain.
In December 2020, Rashid was named the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Decade. In July 2021, he was again named captain of Afghanistan's T20I team. He was also named captain for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. However, he later stepped down from this role.
In December 2022, Rashid was once more appointed captain of Afghanistan in the T20I format. He also led Afghanistan's team in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament in May 2024.

Rashid Khan plays for many different cricket teams in leagues globally.
Indian Premier League (IPL)
In February 2017, the Sunrisers Hyderabad team bought him for the 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL). He was one of the first two Afghan players chosen for the IPL. He took 17 wickets in 14 matches in his first IPL season.
In March 2022, he played as the vice-captain for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. On 9 April 2023, he took a hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders. This was during the 2023 Indian Premier League.
Caribbean Premier League (CPL)
In 2017, the Guyana Amazon Warriors bought Rashid to play in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). In September 2017, he took the first hat-trick in CPL history.
In August 2020, he took his 300th wicket in Twenty20 cricket. He was only 21 years old. He also became the fastest to reach 300 wickets in T20 cricket, doing it in 213 matches.
Big Bash League (BBL)
In September 2017, he joined the Adelaide Strikers for the 2017–18 Big Bash League. He helped them win the tournament. On 8 January 2020, he took a hat-trick in the BBL.
On 12 January 2022, he played his 300th Twenty20 match. In that game, he took six wickets for 17 runs. This was his best bowling performance ever.
Other Cricket Leagues
- Afghanistan Premier League: In September 2018, he was the main player for Kabul Zwanan. He was named player of the tournament.
- Pakistan Super League (PSL): He has played for the Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars.
- Other Tournaments: He has also played for Sussex County Cricket Club in England, Trent Rockets in The Hundred, Durban Heat in South Africa, and MI New York in the United States.
