The town of Rhinebeck is in the northwestern part of Dutchess County. There is also a smaller village of Rhinebeck inside the town. People living in the village are also citizens of the town. However, people living outside the village limits are not part of the village.
U.S. Route 9 goes through the town. Rhinebeck also includes a small area called Rhinecliff. Rhinecliff has an Amtrak train station. You can take trains from here to places like Burlington, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, and New York City.
Rhinebeck is famous for hosting the Dutchess County Fair. This is a big event that many people enjoy.

In 1941, an interesting discovery was made in Rhinebeck. Four old pictures of London from around 1810 were found. They were used to line a barrel of pistols! These pictures are now called the Rhinebeck panorama. The Museum of London bought them in 1998.
