The San Ramon Valley is a long, narrow area of land located in northern California. It's part of the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically the "East Bay" region. This valley stretches across two counties: Contra Costa County and Alameda County.

Where is the San Ramon Valley?

This valley sits between two important natural features. To the west, you'll find the Oakland Hills. To the east, it's bordered by the Diablo Range.

About 130,000 people live in the San Ramon Valley. It's home to several towns and cities. The main cities are San Ramon and Danville. A small part of Walnut Creek also reaches into the valley.

Communities in the Valley

Besides the cities, there are also several "census-designated places" (CDPs) here. A CDP is a community that looks like a town but isn't officially set up as a city. These include Alamo, Blackhawk, Camino Tassajara, and Diablo.

Getting Around the Valley

The main road that helps people travel through the valley is Interstate 680. It's a busy highway that connects many areas. There's also a popular path called the Iron Horse Regional Trail. This trail runs the entire length of the valley and is great for walking, running, and biking.
