Semsales is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It's part of the Veveyse district.

History of Semsales
Semsales is quite old! It was first mentioned in historical records around the year 1100. Back then, its name was written as septem salis.
Geography of Semsales
Semsales covers an area of about 29.4 square kilometers (which is about 11.35 square miles). A big part of this land, almost half (46.6%), is used for farming. Another large portion, 48.2%, is covered by forests. Only a small part, 3.4%, has buildings and roads.
The town is nestled at the base of the Fribourg pre-alpine mountains, specifically near the Niremont and Les Alpettes peaks. Semsales is also important for travel because it's located along a main road that connects Bulle and Châtel-Saint-Denis. The A12 motorway and the Bulle-Palézieux train line also pass through or near it.
Since 1968, the nearby area of La Rougève has been part of Semsales.
