Sonakshi Sinha (born on June 2, 1987) is a famous Indian actress. She mostly works in Hindi movies and TV shows. Her parents, Poonam Sinha and Shatrughan Sinha, are also actors and politicians.

Sonakshi has been on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list many times, from 2012 to 2017 and again in 2019. This list features the most popular and highest-earning celebrities. She has also won several awards, including a Filmfare Award, which is a big honor in Indian cinema.

Before becoming an actress, Sonakshi worked as a costume designer. She made her acting debut in 2010 with the action film Dabangg. This movie was a huge success and helped her win the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for being the best new actress. Sonakshi Sinha was born on June 2, 1987, in Patna, Bihar, India. Her father, Shatrughan Sinha, is an actor and a politician from Bihar. Her mother, Poonam Sinha, is also an actress and comes from a Sindhi Hindu family. Her father was a Member of Parliament, which means he was elected to represent people in the Indian government.

Sonakshi is the youngest of three children. She has two older twin brothers named Luv Sinha and Kush Sinha. She went to school at Arya Vidya Mandir. Later, she studied fashion design at the Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University. Before becoming an actress, she worked as a costume designer for a short time, even designing clothes for a film called Mera Dil Leke Dekho in 2005.

Acting Career

Early Success (2010–2014)

Sonakshi Sinha started her acting career in 2010 with the movie Dabangg. She starred alongside famous actor Salman Khan. This movie was a huge hit and became one of the highest-earning films of 2010. For her role as a village girl, Sonakshi had to lose 30 kg. Critics liked her performance, with one saying she looked "fresh" and acted "confidently." Even though she didn't have any movies released in 2011, she won many awards for her first film, including the Filmfare Award.

In 2012, Sonakshi had four movies released. Her first was Rowdy Rathore, with Akshay Kumar. This film was a big success at the box office. However, some critics felt her role was not very important. Her next film, Joker, did not do well. But her third movie, Son of Sardaar, with Ajay Devgn, was a financial success despite mixed reviews. The next year, in 2016, she starred in the action-drama Akira, where she played a strong college student. This film was an average success. She then appeared in the action-thriller Force 2 with John Abraham. Her performance in this film received some good reviews.

In 2017, Sonakshi starred in the comedy film Noor, playing a journalist. Her acting in this movie was highly praised, with critics saying she was "convincing" and showed "prowess." However, the film was not a commercial success. Her other film that year was Ittefaq, a mystery film that did moderately well.

Sonakshi is a vegan, which means she does not eat any animal products. She has said that she prefers to live with her parents, even after buying her own house, though she eventually moved out in 2023.

She loves animals and has worked with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to encourage people to adopt dogs and cats from shelters. She has spoken out against buying pets from breeders, saying that it leads to many animals being homeless. In 2022, PETA India named her their "Person of the Year."
