Stoney 142, 143, 144 is a special area of land in Alberta, Canada. It is known as an Indian reserve, which means it is a home for the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. This First Nation is made up of three groups: the Bearspaw First Nation, the Chiniki First Nation, and the Wesley First Nation.
This important community is located about 56 kilometers west of Calgary. It sits between the Municipal District of Bighorn No. 8 and Rocky View County. The Stoney Nakoda people are also called the Nakoda people. This reserve is their largest community.
The Stoney reserve stretches along both sides of the Trans-Canada Highway. It is east of Banff National Park and north of the Kananaskis Improvement District. Besides Kananaskis, it also shares borders with Bighorn No. 8, Rocky View County, and the town of Cochrane.
This land is very large. It is the third-biggest Indian reserve in all of Canada. Only Blood 148 and Siksika 146, both also in Alberta, are larger.

He was also the first chief elected for Alberta's Nakoda (Stoney) First Nation. This happened after the three bands joined together a year before the movie was made.
Another film, Open Range, starring Kevin Costner, was also shot on the reserve. The movie Little Big Man, with Dustin Hoffman and Chief Dan George, was filmed here too. The very first showing of Little Big Man was held in Calgary so that the Stoney tribe could attend.
Recent Events
In June 2013, a very large flood caused a lot of damage to the Stoney Reserve. Many homes were affected, and hundreds of people had to leave their houses for safety.
