Stunt Dawgs was an exciting animated TV show that aired from 1992 to 1993. It followed a team of amazing stunt performers and their smart bulldog named Human. This brave group didn't just do cool stunts; they also solved crimes and fought against bad guys!

Their main enemies were the Stunt Scabs, a rival group of stunt performers. The Stunt Scabs worked for a wild Hollywood director who was always causing trouble. The show was inspired by the 1978 movie Hooper. It was made by Franklin/Waterman Productions and Rainforest Entertainment. One of its creators was Jeff Franklin, who also helped make the popular show Full House.

A short comic book series based on Stunt Dawgs was also made by Harvey Comics. Michael Gallagher wrote the comics, and Nelson Dewey drew them.

Meet the Characters

The Stunt Dawgs Team

The Stunt Dawgs are the heroes of the show. They are a group of stunt performers who use their skills to fight crime.

  • Needham - He is the leader of the Stunt Dawgs. Needham is the main hero and is very level-headed. He has a big chest and chin and speaks with a Texan accent. His special saying is "T.T.K.B.", which means "Time To Kick Butt." He also loves to say, "I loooove being a Stunt Dawg!" Needham drives a six-wheeled monster truck called Oscar. This truck can rise up and make its tires thin to get through traffic. It can even fly using rocket engines! Needham was named after a real-life stuntman and director, Hal Needham.
  • Splat - Splat is the rich member of the team. He is relaxed and comes from a wealthy family, which you can tell from his posh accent. His parents don't really approve of him being a stunt performer. Splat flies a military-style helicopter.
  • Sizzle - She is the only girl on the Stunt Dawgs team. Sizzle has fiery red hair and a temper to match! She wears purple spandex and has a Southern accent. She sometimes flirts with Needham. Sizzle drives a pink racecar with huge back tires and carries a small flamethrower.
  • Skidd - Skidd is a motorcycle driver who is "almost crazy." He often thinks about strange things. He is known for his bad breath and loud burps. His vehicle is a yellow motorcycle.
  • Crash - Crash is a bald African-American stunt driver. As his name suggests, he often gets into accidents! He is also usually trying to get away from Velda, who has a big crush on him. Crash drives a red and white rocket car with large back tires, just like Sizzle's car.
  • Human - Human is the Stunt Dawgs' very smart bulldog. He has his own rocket-powered skateboard that he uses sometimes. When he launches from their hideout, The Wreck, he often lands dizzy in a dumpster!

The Stunt Scabs Villains

The Stunt Scabs are the bad guys in the show. They are a group of stunt performers who want to destroy the Stunt Dawgs.

  • Richard P. Fungus - He is the boss of the Stunt Scabs and the main villain. Fungus is a director who loves money and fame, and he hates the Stunt Dawgs. His battle cry is "Lights, Camera, Mayhem!!!" He also often says, "I despise him!" He really hates being called "Dick." Fungus wears a toupée (a wig). In one episode, we learn he has a charismatic but crazy brother who wants to escape from an asylum and hurt Fungus.
  • Airball - Airball is Fungus's short second-in-command. He often acts like Napoleon Bonaparte, calling Fungus "Mon capitan." Fungus usually gets mad at Airball when things go wrong. Airball flies a light blue airplane with an open canopy.
  • Badyear - Badyear is a big, strong construction worker. He has a rattlesnake as a belt. He seems to have a lead foot (a right foot made of lead), but it's actually just a special boot. Badyear is very cheap and always tries to get money from others. His vehicle is a blue monster truck with purple tires. It has a cannon and a movable, jaw-like front bumper.
  • Half-a-Mind - Half-a-Mind is barely human and seems to be a cyborg with a wheel for a leg. He often falls apart when he gets hit. He is the least intelligent member of the group. In one episode, he becomes super smart and takes over the Stunt Scabs! His vehicle is a light green motorized tricycle.
  • Lucky - Lucky has bushy eyebrows and is only a little smarter than Half-a-Mind. He always has the worst luck! He tries to stay positive with his catchphrase, "Could've been worse," but things usually get worse right after he says it. Oddly, Friday the 13th is his luckiest day. His vehicle is the Scorpion, a light green motorcycle with a scorpion design.
  • Whiz Vid - Whiz Vid is a crazy young genius. His inventions often don't work right or do the opposite of what they should, which makes him yell "Glitch!" His funny laugh sounds like "Whoo-hoy!" His vehicle is the Crash & Burn, a red and yellow mobile artillery vehicle with six wheels.

Other Important Characters

  • Slyme - Slyme is the Stunt Scabs' sleazy lawyer. He is just as greedy as Fungus and often uses legal words incorrectly. He drives a large purple limousine.
  • Bambi, Bumbi, Bombi - These are Fungus's three identical girlfriends.
  • Nina Newscaster - Nina is a news reporter who often shows up when the Stunt Dawgs and Stunt Scabs are fighting.
  • Velda - Velda is a woman who has a huge crush on Crash. It's almost like an obsessive crush! She was left at the altar by Crash, but he said it was just part of a stunt, not a real wedding.
