Tang Wei (simplified Chinese: 汤唯; traditional Chinese: 湯唯; pinyin: Tāng Wéi; Hangul: 탕웨이; born October 7, 1979) is a famous Chinese actress. She became known around the world for her role in the movie ..., Caution (2007), directed by Ang Lee. This film won the Golden Lion award.

Tang Wei is the first non-Korean actress to win the Best Actress award at several major South Korean film awards. These include the Baeksang Arts Awards (twice), Blue Dragon Film Awards, Chunsa Film Art Awards, and Buil Film Awards. She also won the Trophée Chopard at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, making her the first Asian actor to receive this honor.

Early Life and Education
Tang Wei was born on October 7, 1979, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. She is the only child of her parents. Her father, Tang Yuming, was a painter. Her mother, Shi Xifeng, was an actress in a special kind of Chinese opera called Yue opera.
From 1992 to 1994, Tang Wei went to school in Shenzhen, Guangdong. This was because of her father's job. She finished vocational school in Hangzhou in 1996, where she studied fine arts. After that, she worked as a model for a while.
Tang Wei really wanted to study acting at the Central Academy of Drama. She tried to get in three times but didn't succeed. Finally, on her fourth try in 2000, she was accepted into the directing program. While at university, she was noticed by a producer and a director. .....

Early Roles and Big Break
In 2004, Tang Wei started her acting career. She appeared in a TV series called Policewoman Swallow. She also acted in a stage play titled Che Guevara. Over the next few years, she continued to appear in various TV dramas. These included Sons and Daughters of the Red Cross (2004) and Silent Tears (2006).
In July 2006, Tang Wei was chosen for a major role. ..... This movie was based on a story by Eileen Chang. For her role, Tang Wei learned different Chinese dialects, including Shanghainese. Her performance in the film earned her the Golden Horse Award for Best New Performer. She also received nominations for other important awards.
Facing Challenges and Returning to Film

In 2013, Tang Wei starred in the romantic comedy Finding Mr. Right. She acted alongside Wu Xiubo. This movie was a surprise hit, earning a lot of money in China. Tang Wei received excellent reviews for her performance. She won the Best Actress award at the 21st Beijing College Student Film Festival.
Next, Tang Wei played the writer Xiao Hong in the movie The Golden Era. This film was shown at the Venice International Film Festival. Although the movie had mixed reviews, her acting was highly praised by critics in China.
Tang Wei made her first English-language film in 2015. It was an action thriller called Blackhat, co-starring Chris Hemsworth. She also appeared in A Tale of Three Cities, which was based on the real-life story of Jackie Chan's parents during wartime. In 2016, Tang Wei and Wu Xiubo reunited for the sequel to Finding Mr. Right, titled Book of Love. This film was also a big commercial success.

In November 2022, she was named the global face for Loewe's spring/summer 2023 collection. In January 2023, she starred in their Year of Rabbit Collection campaign. In August 2023, Tang Wei was the global face for Loewe's Womenswear Fall-Winter 2023 campaign.
In May 2023, Chopard, a Swiss brand known for luxury watches and jewelry, announced Tang Wei as their brand ambassador. This was after she attended the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. By September 2023, Chopard had named her their Global Brand Ambassador. In November 2023, Tang Wei also became a global brand ambassador for the British luxury fashion house Burberry.
Personal Life
Tang Wei has had a few public relationships before her marriage. Her first boyfriend was actor Zhu Yuchen. They met in 1995 and dated from 1997 to 2000. Her second boyfriend was actor Tian Yu. They met in 2004 and were together for three years.
In 2014, Tang Wei married South Korean film director Kim Tae-yong. They had a small wedding ceremony in Sweden. A more formal wedding was later held in Hong Kong, with only close family attending. In August 2016, Tang Wei and Kim Tae-yong welcomed their daughter, Summer.
