Ty Dolla Sign was born Tyrone William Griffin Jr. on April 13, 1982, in Los Angeles. His father, Tyrone Griffin, was a musician in the band Lakeside. Growing up, Ty Dolla Sign met famous artists like Earth, Wind & Fire and Prince through his dad. This helped him fall in love with soul music from a young age.
He started his music journey by learning to play the bass guitar. Later, he taught himself to play drums, guitars, keyboards, and the MPC. Ty Dolla Sign and his music partner, Kory, signed a record deal with Venus Brown and Buddah Brown Entertainment. They released a mixtape called Raw & Bangin Mixtape Vol 2.
