The Western Part of Route 2
The western part of U.S. Route 2 is very long. It starts in Everett, Washington, which is on the west coast. From there, it travels east across many states. This section of the highway is about 2,119 miles long.
It passes through states like Washington, Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota. Finally, the western part ends in St. Ignace, Michigan. This city is located in the northern part of Michigan.
The Eastern Part of Route 2
The eastern part of U.S. Route 2 is shorter than the western part. It is about 460 miles long. This section begins in Rouses Point, New York. Rouses Point is very close to the Canadian border.
The eastern part travels through states like New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire. It then continues into Maine. The highway finally ends in Houlton, Maine. Houlton is also very close to the Canadian border.
Traveling Along Route 2
If you travel on U.S. Route 2, you will see many different landscapes. In the west, you might see mountains and forests. As you go east, you will see plains and farmlands. The highway offers a great way to explore different parts of the country.
