CEU Cardenal Herrera University (in Spanish: Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera) is a private university in the Valencian Community, Spain. It is part of the CEU Foundation, a large private education group. This university was the first private Law school in Valencia. It has been connected to the University of Valencia and Polytechnic University of Valencia since the early 1970s. The university got its current name in 1999.
CEU Cardenal Herrera University offers many different study programs. These include degrees in English, French, and Spanish. It has three modern campuses in Alfara del Patriarca (near Valencia), Elche (Alicante), and Castellón. Over 9,250 students from all over the world study here. About 35% of its students come from other countries. This makes it a very international place to learn!
Some international rankings have placed CEU Cardenal Herrera University among the top private universities in Spain. For example, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) once ranked it as the second-best private university in Spain for research. About the University
The university is managed by the San Pablo CEU University Foundation. This foundation is the largest private education group in Spain. It also runs two other universities in Madrid and Barcelona. Plus, it manages many primary and secondary schools.
The history of CEU Cardenal Herrera University goes back to 1971. That's when the first private Law school was opened in Valencia. The university officially became "University CEU Cardenal Herrera" in 1999. The Foundation started its work in Valencia in 1971 and in Elche in 1994. The government of the Valencian Community approved its creation.
The university is part of the European Higher Education Area. This means it follows a system that helps students move easily between universities in Europe. It also has a program called "Platon" with Harvard University. This program helps students with tutoring and continuous learning.

CEU Cardenal Herrera University has five main faculties, which are like different schools for specific subjects:

Campus Life
CEU Cardenal Herrera University has three campuses. They are located in Alfara del Patriarca (near Valencia), Elche, and Castellón. The main campus in Alfara del Patriarca has the central library and the International Relations Office. This campus is easy to reach from Valencia city center by metro and bus.
The university's central library is a huge building, about 5,000 square meters. It can hold up to 700 students. It has computer labs, group study rooms, and research rooms. You can also find audiovisual and internet resources there.
Medical students often study at a new medical school building in Castellón de la Plana. This town is about an hour from Valencia and is close to the popular beach resort of Benicàssim. Castellón has a large university hospital where students can gain practical experience.
Student Activities
Around 10,000 students attend the university. Many come from different parts of Spain, like Valencia, Murcia, Majorca, Ibiza, and Albacete. Each year, about 700 students from other countries also come to study. Many more join through exchange programs like Erasmus.
The university has special facilities for students to get hands-on training. These include:
- A Media Production and Multimedia Center with TV studios, radio, and photography equipment.
- A Veterinary Hospital, which is well-known in the Valencia area.

CEU Cardenal Herrera University also publishes a monthly newspaper called The Rotary Diary. It has its own radio station, Radio CEU, which broadcasts for 12 hours daily. There's also a media company called CEUMedia with its own TV channel. These are all run by students from the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences.
Students can join many social and sports groups. There's an Erasmus-support group for international students. Each school has a Tuna, which is a traditional Spanish band that competes in national contests. There's also CEU Theatre for those interested in acting.
For sports, the university offers aerobics, gym, yoga, tennis, diving, tai chi, and more. For team sports, there are male and female teams for basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Students can also play chess and table-tennis. The university often hosts sports competitions, like golf, football, and volleyball tournaments.
The university offers Summer University courses in June and July. It also has Spanish language courses to help international students learn Spanish. The International Office helps foreign students with everything they need, from studying to finding a place to live.
Research and Innovation
CEU Cardenal Herrera University is involved in many research projects. These projects often work with the local government, Generalitat Valenciana. Some research areas include studying diseases like leukemia and diabetes, designing new medicines, and looking at media on the Internet.
