Vita Marissa (born 4 January 1981) is a retired badminton player from Indonesia. She was known for her strong skills in both women's doubles and mixed doubles.

Vita's Badminton Journey

Vita Marissa competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in mixed doubles. Her partner was Nova Widianto. They did well, winning their second-round match. However, they lost in the quarterfinals to a team from Denmark.

In September 2008, Vita and her new partner Muhammad Rijal won the mixed doubles title at the Japan Super Series. They beat another Indonesian team in a close final match.

In early 2009, Vita decided to leave the Indonesia National Team. She continued her career as an independent professional player. She often played with partners like Flandy Limpele and Nadya Melati.

Olympic Games Highlights

Vita Marissa represented Indonesia in two Olympic Games.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, she played in mixed doubles with Flandy Limpele. They won their first two matches. They reached the semifinals but lost a very close match for the bronze medal, finishing in fourth place.

She also played in women's doubles at the 2008 Olympics with Liliyana Natsir. They lost in the first round.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, Vita played mixed doubles with Nova Widianto. They won their first match after a bye. They reached the quarterfinals but were defeated by a Danish team.

World Championships

In 2007, Vita won a Bronze medal in mixed doubles at the BWF World Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her partner was Flandy Limpele.

Asian Games

At the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, Vita earned a Bronze medal in mixed doubles with Nova Widianto.

Asian Championships

Vita won two Gold medals in mixed doubles at the Badminton Asia Championships.

  • In 2003, she won in Jakarta with Nova Widianto.
  • In 2008, she won in Johor Bahru with Flandy Limpele.

She also won a Silver medal in women's doubles in 2001 and two Bronze medals in women's doubles in 2008. She earned three other Bronze medals in mixed doubles in 2000, 2001, and 2004.

SEA Games

Vita has been very successful at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). She won six Gold medals:

  • In 2001, she won gold in women's doubles, mixed doubles, and women's team events.
  • In 2007, she won gold in women's doubles, mixed doubles, and women's team events again.

She also won two Silver medals in 2011 in women's doubles and women's team.

Junior Championships

As a junior player, Vita won Bronze medals at both the BWF World Junior Championships (1998) and the Badminton Asia Junior Championships (1997, 1998) in girls' doubles. She also won a Silver medal in the girls' team event at the 1997 Asian Junior Championships.

The BWF Superseries was a top series of badminton tournaments. Vita Marissa won 5 titles and was a runner-up 5 times in these events.

Personal Life

When Vita Marissa was young, she joined the Tangkas Jakarta badminton club. Her parents are Aris Harsono and Yulianawati. Vita enjoys billiards, swimming, and watching movies in her free time. People often call her Vita. After her matches, no matter the result, she always makes a special symbol showing her faith. In 2008, she was the oldest player on the Uber Cup team and was chosen as the team captain.
