Vladimir Stojković (born July 28, 1983) is a Serbian professional footballer. He plays as a goalkeeper for Radnički 1923.

Throughout his career, he played for the two biggest clubs in his home country: Red Star and Partizan. He also played for teams in nine other countries. He was notably with Sporting CP, who loaned him out several times.

Stojković played for the Serbian national team 84 times. He was chosen for three World Cups and the 2008 Olympics.

Early Life and Football Beginnings

Vladimir Stojković was born in Loznica, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He came from a family of athletes. His father, Vladeta, was also a football goalkeeper. His mother, Kosa, was a track and field athlete. She competed in events like the discus throw.

Following his father's path, Vladimir started playing football as a goalkeeper. He joined his local club, FK Loznica's youth team. Soon after, he moved to the youth setup of Red Star Belgrade.

Starting at Red Star Belgrade

Stojković joined the main squad of Red Star Belgrade in 2001. At first, he was a backup goalkeeper. He played in only two league matches during his first two seasons.

In 2003, Red Star loaned him to FK Leotar in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He played in four UEFA Champions League qualifying matches. He left Leotar after two months.

Time with FK Zemun

In early 2004, Stojković joined FK Zemun. He quickly became the main goalkeeper. He played 28 league games in his second season. He helped Zemun finish fifth in the league. He also made important saves against his former club, Red Star.

Returning to Red Star

In 2005, Stojković returned to Red Star. He became the first-choice goalkeeper. He impressed everyone, especially in the UEFA Cup. He saved a penalty against AS Roma, helping Red Star win 3–1. That season, Red Star won both the league and the cup.

Moving to Nantes and Vitesse

In 2006, Stojković moved to FC Nantes in France. After a good start, his performance dropped. He lost his starting spot. In January 2007, he was loaned to SBV Vitesse in the Netherlands. He played eight games there.

Years at Sporting CP

On July 11, 2007, Stojković signed a five-year contract with Sporting CP in Portugal. He started well but got injured. He then lost his place to a younger goalkeeper. He struggled to get back into the team.

Loan to Getafe

In January 2009, he was loaned to La Liga club Getafe CF in Spain. He made his debut in April 2009. He kept a clean sheet in a 1–0 win. He also made many great saves against FC Barcelona.

Loan to Wigan Athletic

In late 2009, Stojković was loaned to Wigan Athletic in England. He played his first game for them in January 2010. He made his Premier League debut a few days later. After a few games, he became a backup again.

Joining Partizan

On August 27, 2010, Stojković joined Partizan on a loan. This move was very controversial. He had previously been an honorary member of Partizan's biggest rivals, Red Star. This caused a lot of strong feelings among fans.

Despite the tension, Stojković played in the "Eternal Derby" against Red Star. Partizan won 1–0. After the game, he showed a T-shirt that said: "Please Forgive My Ugly Past." He said he wanted to show his feelings.

On August 11, 2012, Stojković scored his first career goal. It was a penalty kick in a 7–0 win. In December 2013, Partizan fans voted him their Player of the Year.

In January 2014, Stojković signed with Ergotelis F.C. in Greece. He played 11 games for them.

He then joined Maccabi Haifa F.C. in Israel in June 2014. He played there for two years. In 2016, he moved to Nottingham Forest F.C. in England. He played 20 games for them.

On August 15, 2017, Stojković returned to Partizan. He helped them qualify for the Europa League group stage. He was named Man of the Match in another derby against Red Star. In 2018, he became the team captain.

On July 28, 2021, Stojković joined Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia. On May 19, 2022, he helped Al-Fayha win their first-ever King Cup title.

International Career for Serbia

Youth Teams

Stojković was a backup goalkeeper for the Serbia and Montenegro under-21 squad. They reached the final of the 2004 UEFA European Championship. In 2006, he captained the under-21 team to the semi-finals of the 2006 European Championships.

Stojković was part of the Serbian senior squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. After the World Cup, he became the first-choice goalkeeper for the newly independent Serbia. He made his debut on August 16, 2006.

He played well during the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying games. In July 2008, he was chosen as captain for the Serbia Olympic team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He saved two penalties against Argentina.

Stojković continued to play regularly for the national team. He was selected for Serbia's squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He played all three group stage matches. He helped Serbia win 1–0 against Germany, saving a penalty.

In October 2010, before a match against Italy, Stojković faced issues with some fans. He returned to the national team more than a year later. On October 11, 2014, he saved a late penalty against Armenia in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

In June 2018, he was selected for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He played all three group stage matches for Serbia.

Personal Life

In June 2009, Vladimir Stojković married Bojana Rajić. They had a son together. The couple divorced in 2014.

Vladimir's older brother, Vladan, was also a goalkeeper. He played most of his career in Portugal.
