Vly Mountain is located in a beautiful area of New York State. It has several mountain neighbors around it.

These nearby mountains help make the landscape around Vly Mountain very scenic.

How Water Flows from Vly Mountain

Mountains like Vly Mountain are important sources for rivers and streams. Water from Vly Mountain travels in different directions, eventually reaching large bays. This journey is called drainage.

Water Flowing North

Water from the north side of Vly Mountain flows into a stream called Little West Kill. From there, it joins the Schoharie Creek. The Schoharie Creek then flows into the Mohawk River, which eventually connects to the mighty Hudson River. Finally, this water reaches New York Bay, near New York City.

Water Flowing East

On the east side of Vly Mountain, water flows through Roarback Brook. This brook then empties into the West Kill stream. Just like the Little West Kill, the West Kill also joins the Schoharie Creek, continuing its journey towards the Hudson River and New York Bay.

Water Flowing South and West

The south and west sides of Vly Mountain send their water into Vly Creek. This creek then flows into the Bush Kill. The Bush Kill joins Dry Brook, which is a branch of the East Branch of the Delaware River. All this water eventually makes its way to Delaware Bay, which is located between New Jersey and Delaware.

It's pretty cool how water from one mountain can end up in different big rivers and bays, right?
