History of the Wellington Land District
The way these land districts were created happened step by step, not all at once. The Wellington district started to have its land divided up in 1835. This was even before its exact borders were officially decided.
The official description of its boundaries came later, in 1862. This description was published in an official announcement. It explained the district's edges using natural features like the sea-coast and rivers.
Where is Wellington Land District?
This district is located along the coast of the Indian Ocean. It's generally around the city of Bunbury. The district goes north towards Yarloop. It stretches east to Darkan. To the south, it reaches just past Capel and Donnybrook.

Farming Areas
Special rules were made for farming areas on government-owned land (called crown land) or on private land that the government bought back. These rules helped people get land and improve it for farming. Many of these areas were set up after World War I to help soldiers who returned home find new lives as farmers.
