The second season of Wizards of Waverly Place aired on Disney Channel. It ran from September 12, 2008, to August 21, 2009. This season follows the Russo siblings: Alex (Selena Gomez), Justin (David Henrie), and Max Russo (Jake T. Austin). They continue to train and compete to become the main wizard in their family. Their parents, Theresa and Jerry, are played by Maria Canals Barrera and David DeLuise. Jennifer Stone plays Harper Finkle, Alex's best friend.

What Happens in Season 2
This season brings exciting changes for the Russo family. Harper, Alex's best friend, finally learns that Alex, Justin, and Max are wizards. This happens in the eighth episode of the season.
Alex and Justin also find new crushes. Alex starts dating Dean Moriarty (Daniel Samonas). Justin falls for Juliet Van Heusen (Bridgit Mendler).
The show also has a special crossover event. The Russo family meets characters from The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana. This big event is called "Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana". You'll see familiar faces like Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song, Debby Ryan, and Phill Lewis.
Many other guest stars and recurring actors appear. These include Dan Benson, Bill Chott, Skyler Samuels, Josh Sussman, Daryl Sabara, Cindy Crawford, Fred Willard, Rachel Dratch, Dwayne Johnson, Misty May-Treanor, JD Cullum, Anne Ramsay, Amanda Tepe, and Jeff Garlin.
Alex's Adventures and Relationships
Alex has a crush on her classmate, Dean Moriarty. She tries to impress him with magic. In one episode, Alex's rival, Gigi Hollingsworth, finds Alex's secret diary. The diary has drawings about Alex's crush on Dean. Gigi gets into trouble but then tells the whole school about Alex's crush. Alex admits her drawings but says the "prince" wasn't Dean. Still, Dean seems interested.
Dean agrees to help Alex fix her dad's old car. He enters it in a race. Alex gets upset because Dean spends more time with the car than with her. She uses magic to get inside the car during the race. Dean then tells her he likes her too. They go on a triple date, but Alex uses magic to make the other couples leave. She realizes Dean wants to kiss her. They share a kiss.
Later, Alex feels Dean doesn't show his feelings enough. When WizTech closes, some wizard students stay at the Russos' house. One student, Ronald Longcape Jr., likes Alex. Alex feels bad because she starts to like Ronald too. Ronald magically gets rid of Dean and pretends to be him. He breaks up with Alex while disguised as Dean. Ronald then tries to make Alex evil like him. But Alex realizes she truly loves Dean, and the spell breaks. Dean returns, and they become a couple.
Alex eventually tells Harper about her magic. She takes Harper into space for her birthday. Dean moves away, but Alex tries to keep their relationship going by visiting him in his dreams. When Dean visits her, they go on a date. Alex realizes they have grown apart and breaks up with him.
Justin's New Romance
The Van Heusen family opens a sandwich shop next to the Russos' Sub Station. This causes the Russos to lose customers. Justin goes to spy on the new shop. There, he meets Juliet Van Heusen, the owner's daughter. He quickly falls for her.
Their parents don't want them to date because their businesses are rivals. But Alex helps change their minds. Justin soon finds out that Juliet is a vampire. Juliet also knows that Justin is a wizard. Their relationship becomes more serious, and they realize they are in love.
