The Zurzach District is a special area, like a county, in the country of Switzerland. It is part of the Canton of Aargau. The main town and capital of this district is Bad Zurzach.
This district is found in the northeast part of the Aargau canton. It is also known as the Studenland area. About 35,041 people live in the Zurzach District (as of 31 December 2020).

Where is Zurzach District?
The Zurzach District covers an area of about 130 square kilometers (which is about 50 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 44%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 39% of the district. The rest of the land, about 13%, has buildings and roads.
This district is located where two important rivers meet: the Aare River and the Rhine River. When rivers meet, it's called a confluence.
Who Lives in Zurzach District?
As of 31 December 2020, the Zurzach District has a population of about 35,041 people. Many people from other countries also live here. In 2009, about 25% of the people living in the district were from outside Switzerland.
How People Work and Learn
In 2000, there were over 15,000 people living in the district who had jobs. Most of them, about 73%, worked outside the district. However, over 6,000 people traveled into the district to work. This means the district had more than 10,000 jobs available.
When it comes to school, many students attend different levels of education. In the 2008/2009 school year:
- Over 2,400 students went to primary school (like elementary school).
- About 970 students attended secondary school (like middle and high school).
- Around 750 students were studying at universities or colleges.

Changes to Municipalities
Over time, some of the smaller towns in the district have joined together to form larger ones. This helps with local government and services. Here are some recent changes:
- On January 1, 2014, the town of Unterendingen became part of Endingen.
- On January 1, 2022, several towns merged into a new, larger municipality called Zurzach. These towns were Bad Zurzach, Baldingen, Böbikon, Kaiserstuhl, Rekingen, Rietheim, Rümikon, and Wislikofen.
