The Paris Graduate School of Digital Innovation, often called EPITECH, is a special school for computer science and software engineering. It started in 1999. Its full name in French is École pour l'informatique et les nouvelles technologies.
EPITECH has its main office near Paris, in a town called Le Kremlin-Bicêtre. But it has many campuses all over France, in cities like Bordeaux, Lyon, and Marseille. The school also has campuses in other countries, including Spain, Germany, and Belgium.
A cool thing about EPITECH is how it teaches. Instead of just listening to lectures, students learn by working on real-life projects. This helps them get hands-on experience. The school is part of a bigger group called IONIS Education Group.
How EPITECH Started
EPITECH was created in 1999. It was made for students who really loved computer science. The idea was to give them a special place to focus only on tech skills.
Over the years, EPITECH opened many new campuses. In 2007, they opened schools in cities like Bordeaux, Lille, and Lyon. More campuses followed in 2008, including Nice and Montpellier.
Growing Around the World
EPITECH started to open schools outside of France in 2013. They planned to open a campus in Beijing, China. They also looked at opening schools in the United Kingdom and Spain.
By 2021, EPITECH had campuses in places like New York City, Berlin, and Barcelona. They even have a special program where students can study in different campuses around the world. This helps students get a global experience.
Working with Others
EPITECH works with different groups to help more people learn about computers.
- Web@cademie: EPITECH teamed up with an group called Zup de Co. Together, they created Web@cademie. This is a free two-year program for young people who want to become software developers. It's for those who might not have finished high school but are very motivated.
- Summer School: In 2022, EPITECH and another school, ESME-Sudria, held a summer school. It was all about robotics for students from other countries who wanted to study in Paris.
- University Partners: EPITECH partners with over 100 universities worldwide. They work with schools like The Hague University of Applied Sciences. They also have a special program in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things with Algebra University College.
Famous Graduates
- Solomon Hykes (2006): He is known for being the CEO of Docker, Inc..
