- January 6 – Constantine XI became the new Byzantine Emperor. He was crowned in a place called Mistra. He was the last emperor in a very long line of rulers. This line of rulers went all the way back to the founding of Rome.

- August 13 – A leader named Albrecht Achilles from Brandenburg took over the Lichtenau fortress. He captured it from the city of Nuremberg during a conflict known as the First Margrave War.
- September 8 – A huge battle happened at a place called Tumu Fortress. The Oirat Mongols fought against the Ming Dynasty army of China.
