The year 16 BC was a time in ancient history. It was part of the Julian calendar, which was used by the Roman Empire. People at the time knew it as the Year of the Consulship of Ahenobarbus and Scipio. A consul was one of the two most important leaders in the Roman Republic, like a president today, but they served for only one year.
