Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is an English professional footballer. He was born on August 15, 1993. He plays as a midfielder. He last played for the Turkish club Beşiktaş.

Alex became well-known playing for Southampton when he was just 17. This was during the 2010–11 season. In August 2011, he joined Arsenal. He scored two goals in his first three games for Arsenal. This made him the youngest English player to score in the UEFA Champions League. He also became a regular player for the England under-21 team.

During his six years at Arsenal, he played 198 games and scored 20 goals. He helped Arsenal win the FA Cup three times. In August 2017, he moved to Liverpool. With Liverpool, he won the Champions League in 2019 and the 2019–20 Premier League in 2020.

Alex first played for the England national team in May 2012. This was in a friendly match against Norway. He was then surprisingly chosen for the UEFA Euro 2012 squad. He became one of the youngest players to represent England in the European Championships. He also played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He has played 35 times for England, scoring seven goals. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was born in Portsmouth, England. His birthday is August 15, 1993. His father, Mark Chamberlain, was also a professional footballer. Mark played for clubs like Stoke City and Portsmouth. He also played for the England national team. Alex's uncle, Neville Chamberlain, was also a professional footballer. His younger brother, Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain, is also a footballer. Alex's family background includes Jamaican heritage from his grandparents.

Alex went to St John's College in Portsmouth. He grew up supporting Arsenal. He was also very good at other sports. He played rugby union and almost chose it over football. He was even offered a trial with London Irish. Alex also played cricket as a wicketkeeper and batsman. He was offered trials with Hampshire for cricket. However, he chose to focus on his football career.

In February 2017, it was shared that Alex was dating singer Perrie Edwards. She is a member of the girl group Little Mix. In August 2021, Alex and Perrie had their first child, a son. They announced their engagement in June 2022.

Playing for Southampton

Alex joined the Southampton Academy when he was seven years old. He made his first team debut for Southampton on March 2, 2010. He was only 16 years and 199 days old. This made him the club's second youngest player ever. His first goal for Southampton came on August 10, 2010. It was in a League Cup match against AFC Bournemouth.

On August 20, 2010, after his 17th birthday, Alex signed his first professional contract. He scored his first league goal on October 23, 2010. It was the winning goal in a 2–1 victory. He ended the season with nine goals. Southampton was promoted to the Championship. Alex was also named in the PFA League One Team of the Year.

Moving to Arsenal

On August 8, 2011, Alex joined Premier League club Arsenal. The transfer fee was reported to be around £12 million. He made his Arsenal debut on August 28, 2011. It was in a match against Manchester United. On September 20, 2011, he scored his first goal for Arsenal. It was in a League Cup match.

On September 28, 2011, Alex scored in his UEFA Champions League debut. He became the youngest English player to score in the Champions League. This broke a record held by his teammate, Theo Walcott. On February 4, 2012, he scored two goals in a Premier League match. Arsenal won 7–1 against Blackburn Rovers. At the end of his first season, he was nominated for PFA Young Player of the Year.

Alex continued to play for Arsenal. He scored his first goal of the 2012–13 season in a League Cup match. In December 2012, he signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal. He scored his only Premier League goal that season in a 7–3 win.

In the 2013–14 season, Alex got injured early on. He returned to score two goals in February. He missed the end of the season due to another injury.

Alex started the 2014–15 season by winning the 2014 FA Community Shield. He scored against Tottenham and RSC Anderlecht. He also helped Arsenal win the 2015 FA Cup final. In the 2015–16 season, he scored the only goal in the 2015 FA Community Shield against Chelsea. He suffered a serious knee injury in February 2016. This injury kept him out for the rest of the season.

In the 2016–17 season, Alex scored against Liverpool and West Ham United. He also played well in a new wing-back role. He won the Man of the Match award in the FA Cup semi-final.

On August 31, 2017, Alex joined Liverpool. He signed a five-year contract. He made his debut for Liverpool on September 9, 2017. He scored his first goal for the club on October 17. It was in a 7–0 Champions League win. On January 14, 2018, he scored in Liverpool's 4–3 win over Manchester City.

On April 25, 2018, Alex suffered a serious knee injury. This happened during a Champions League semi-final match. The injury meant he could not play for the rest of the season. He also missed the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He missed most of the 2018–19 season while recovering. He returned to play on April 26, 2019, after 366 days. He was an unused substitute when Liverpool won the Champions League final in 2019.

In August 2019, Alex signed a new contract with Liverpool. He scored three Champions League goals in two weeks in October and November 2019. Youth Teams

Alex played for England's youth teams. He was called up to the England under-18 squad in November 2010. He played for 45 minutes in a 3–0 win against Poland. In February 2011, he was promoted to the England under-21 team. He made his debut against Italy.

He started his first game for the Under-21s in September 2011. He helped England win against Azerbaijan and Israel. A month later, he scored three goals against Iceland. In February 2012, he scored a penalty against Belgium. This helped England secure a spot in the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

He started his first senior game for England on June 2 against Belgium. On June 11, he played in England's first match of Euro 2012 against France.

Alex scored his first goal for England on October 12, 2012. It was in a 5–0 win against San Marino. He scored again against San Marino in March 2013. On June 2, 2013, he scored against Brazil in a friendly match. He scored with a half-volley to make the score 1–1.
