Amanda Michelle Seyfried (born December 3, 1985) is an American actress and singer. She started acting when she was 15 years old. Her first big role was as Lucy Montgomery in the TV show As the World Turns (1999–2001). She became well-known after starring in the teen comedy movie Mean Girls (2004). She also played Lilly Kane in the mystery series Veronica Mars (2004–2006) and Sarah Henrickson in the drama series Big Love (2006–2011).
Amanda Seyfried has been in many popular films. These include Mamma Mia! (2008) and its sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018). Other notable movies are Dear John (2010), Letters to Juliet (2010), and Les Misérables (2012).
She received great praise for her role as Marion Davies in the movie Mank (2020). For this, she was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. In 2022, she won a Golden Globe Award and an Primetime Emmy Award for playing Elizabeth Holmes in the series The Dropout. Early life and education
Amanda Michelle Seyfried was born on December 3, 1985. Her hometown is Allentown, Pennsylvania. Her mother, Ann Seyfried, is an occupational therapist. Her father, Jack Seyfried, is a pharmacist. Amanda has mostly German family roots. She also has some English, Scots-Irish, and Welsh ancestors. Her older sister, Jennifer Seyfried, is a musician. She plays in a rock band called Love City in Philadelphia.
Amanda went to William Allen High School in Allentown. She graduated from high school in 2003. She planned to go to Fordham University in New York City. However, she decided not to attend. This was because she got a main role in the 2004 movie Mean Girls.
Career beginnings and early roles (1996–2005)
While still in high school, Amanda Seyfried started modeling. She appeared in print ads for clothing companies. She was also featured on three covers of the Sweet Valley High book series. At age 17, she stopped modeling. She then worked as a waitress in a retirement community.
As a teenager, she took vocal lessons. She also studied opera and trained with a Broadway coach. Her acting career began with a small role in the TV drama Guiding Light. From 2000 to 2001, she played Lucy Montgomery on As the World Turns. From 2002 to 2003, she was Joni Stafford on All My Children.

Personal life
Amanda Seyfried has openly talked about having anxiety and obsessive–compulsive disorder. She also experiences panic attacks. For a long time, she avoided performing in theater because of stage fright. She started doing theater productions in 2015.
In early 2016, she started a relationship with her co-star from The Last Word, Thomas Sadoski. They announced their engagement on September 12, 2016. They got married in March 2017. They have two children, a daughter born in 2017 and a son born in 2020.
Amanda Seyfried is a board member of the International Network for Aid, Relief and Assistance (INARA). This organization helps children who have been hurt in war zones. They especially focus on refugee children from Syria affected by the Syrian civil war.
