Early Life and Music Career
Gary Stephen Anderson was born in Melbourne, Victoria. His nickname "Angry Ant" started when he was young. It came from his energetic and sometimes fiery personality.
He grew up in Coburg and worked in a factory. At first, he wanted to be a blues guitarist. But he found he was best at singing.
From 1971 to 1973, he led a rock group called Peace Power and Purity. He then became the lead singer for Buster Brown in 1973. The band released an album called Something to Say in 1975.
In 1976, Angry Anderson moved to Sydney. He joined a new band called Rose Tattoo. He became their lead singer. Their song "Bad Boy for Love" was very popular in 1977. Rose Tattoo toured Europe in 1981. They played at the Reading Festival.
Acting and Solo Success
Angry Anderson started acting in movies. His first small role was in Bullamakanka (1983). He later played the character Ironbar Bassey in the movie Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985).
In 1985, he joined a group called The Incredible Penguins. They recorded a cover song, "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)". This was a charity project to help little penguins. The song reached number 10 on the charts.
In 1987, he played a role in the musical Rasputin. He also continued his work as a reporter. He appeared on TV shows like The Midday Show and A Current Affair.
His biggest solo hit was "Suddenly" in 1987. This song was used in a famous wedding scene on the TV show Neighbours. The characters Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell got married. Charlene was played by Kylie Minogue. "Suddenly" became a huge hit in Australia and the UK.

After Rose Tattoo broke up for a while, Angry Anderson continued his solo music. He released the album Blood from Stone in 1990. It included the hit song "Bound for Glory". He performed this song at the 1991 AFL Grand Final.
In 1992, he acted in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. In 1993, Rose Tattoo reunited to support Guns N' Roses on their Australian tour.
Community Work and Later Career
Since 1994, Angry Anderson has used his media connections for "Challenges." These projects help charities with community support. For example, he helped build a playground for children with disabilities. He also helped farmers affected by drought. He organized Christmas presents for children in need. He helped build places for people with HIV/AIDS. He also helped deliver artificial limbs to land mine victims in Cambodia.
Rose Tattoo got back together in 1998. They have continued to perform. Sadly, five former band members have passed away from cancer. These include Dallas Royall, Peter Wells, Ian Rilen, Lobby Loyde, and Mick Cocks.
In the early 2000s, Angry Anderson was involved in many charity events. He played at the Bali Relief concert in 2002. This concert helped victims of the Bali bombing. He is also involved with the Dunn Lewis Youth Development Foundation. This foundation honors two Australians who died in the bombings.
In 2011, he appeared in the movie Suite for Fleur. He also performed at the opening of the Hard Rock Cafe in Darling Harbour.

In 2014, Angry Anderson was a judge on the TV show Bogan Hunters. He also had a role in the movie Fat Pizza vs. Housos.
Political Views
Angry Anderson has shared his thoughts on different topics. In 2010, he spoke to a government committee about violence. He said that "Aussies use their fists" when they fight. He also said that "weapons were introduced by other cultures."
In 2011, he joined the National Party. He was interested in running for a seat in the Australian federal election. He ran as Gary Anderson in the Division of Throsby. He did not win, but his campaign helped his party.
In 2012, Anderson was on the TV show Go Back To Where You Came From. This show took Australians with different views on refugees to places where refugees come from. At first, he believed that people who arrived illegally should be sent back. But after meeting refugees and visiting Kabul, he changed his mind. He said he did not want people to suffer needlessly. He wanted to help them find a safe place.
He ran for politics again in 2014 but later withdrew. In 2016, he ran for the Senate with the Australian Liberty Alliance. This group opposes some immigration policies.
Personal Life
Angry Anderson has been open about his life. He has four children: Roxanne, Galen, Blaine, and Liam. He was married to Lindy Michael, but they later divorced. He lives in Sydney.
He does not believe in a specific god. However, he regularly visits the Baha'i temple. He says he has given himself to spirituality.
Because many of his bandmates passed away from cancer, he supports men's health. He has appeared in TV campaigns to raise awareness about prostate cancer.
Sadly, in November 2018, his son Liam passed away.
