Bailee Madison (born October 15, 1999) is a talented actress, singer, and songwriter from both the United States and Canada. She was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Bailee started acting when she was only two weeks old! At first, she appeared in many television commercials.
She made her first movie appearance as May Belle Aarons in the fantasy drama Bridge to Terabithia (2007). This role brought her early praise. She became even more well-known for her role in the war drama Brothers (2009). For this movie, she was nominated for a special award called the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer. Bailee Madison also starred in several horror and thriller movies, starting with Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (2010). Because of these roles, she became known as a "scream queen," which means she's great at acting in scary movies! She also had success in comedies like Just Go with It (2011) and Parental Guidance (2012).
Later, Bailee moved into television roles. She had parts in shows like The Haunting Hour: The Series (2010–2012) and played a young Snow White in Once Upon a Time (2012–2016). She also played a teenager with mental health issues in The Fosters (2014–2015). Bailee then took on main roles as Hillary Harrison in Trophy Wife (2013–2014) and Grace Russell in Good Witch (2015–2021). Early Life and Beginnings
Bailee Madison Williams Hotte was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her mother is Patricia Riley and her father is Daniel Hotte. She is the youngest of seven children, with four brothers and two sisters. Her older sister, Kaitlin Vilasuso, is also an actress. Because her father is Canadian, Bailee also has Canadian citizenship.
Bailee started her acting journey very early, at just two weeks old, when she appeared in an Office Depot commercial. After that, she was in many national commercials for big companies like Disney, SeaWorld, and Cadillac. She also helps a charity called Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, which raises money and awareness for childhood cancer. She is their national youth spokesperson.
Becoming a Star: Early Roles
In 2010, Bailee Madison got her first main role in the scary movie Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. She acted alongside Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce. Bailee played Sally Hurst, a lonely child who goes to live with her father and his new girlfriend. Critics thought it was a very good haunted house movie.
In 2011, Bailee played Maxine Russo in some episodes of The Wizards of Waverly Place. Her character was Max Russo when he was turned into a girl.
In 2013, she started playing Hillary in the TV show Trophy Wife.
From TV Star to Music
In 2014, Bailee began a recurring role as Sophia Quinn in the ABC Family drama The Fosters.
In 2015, she started playing Grace Russell in the Hallmark series Good Witch. Grace is the daughter of the main character, Cassie Nightingale. Bailee stayed on the show until the fifth season in 2019.
In 2017, it was announced that Bailee would star in a movie based on the book Someone Else's Summer.
In 2018, Bailee played Kinsey, a rebellious child, in the slasher movie The Strangers: Prey at Night. She acted with Christina Hendricks and Martin Henderson, who played her parents. Even though the movie got mixed reviews, many people praised Bailee's acting, and the movie did well at the box office.
In 2021, Bailee played the main female role in A Week Away, a teen Christian musical drama, alongside Kevin Quinn. Netflix released this movie. The next year, she played Imogen Adams in the HBO Max horror-thriller series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. This show is a spin-off of the popular Pretty Little Liars series, and Bailee's performance was highly praised. In 2024, Bailee signed a music deal and released her first song, "Kinda Fun," on January 12. She then released her second song, "Chiller," on July 26.
Personal Life
Since 2019, Bailee Madison has been in a relationship with Blake Richardson, who is a member of the band New Hope Club.
Other Ventures
Since 2010, Bailee Madison has been the national youth spokesperson for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. This organization encourages kids to raise money and spread awareness about childhood cancer by setting up lemonade stands. In January 2018, Bailee's first novel, Losing Brave, was published. It's a young-adult mystery book that she wrote with Stefne Miller. Since November 2018, she has also co-hosted a podcast called Just Between Us with her sister Kaitlin Vilasuso.
