Bassins is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It's found in the Vaud canton, which is like a state, and is part of the Nyon district. Bassins sits at the bottom of the Jura Mountains, about 800 meters (around 2,600 feet) above sea level. It's a peaceful place known for its beautiful natural surroundings.

Bassins was first mentioned in old records way back in 1095. That's over 900 years ago! It shows how long people have lived and built a community in this area.

Bassins covers an area of about 20.8 square kilometers (8 square miles). A big part of this land is used for farming, about 35.6%. Even more of the land, about 61.2%, is covered by forests. This means Bassins is a very green and natural place.
The town is located right at the foot of the Jura Mountains. It sits on a small flat area, or terrace, above the town of Nyon. Bassins used to be part of the old Nyon District. In 2006, when districts were reorganized, it became part of the new Nyon district.
