Blonay was once a town in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It was located in the Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut area. On January 1, 2022, Blonay joined with another town, Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz, to form a new municipality called Blonay - Saint-Légier.

History of Blonay
Blonay is a very old place! It was first written about in the year 861. Back then, it was called Blodennaco. Later, in 1108, its name changed to Bloniaco. During the 1200s, people started calling it Blonay, Blonai, or Blunai.
Geography of Blonay
Blonay covers an area of about 16.1 square kilometers (about 6.2 square miles). A large part of this land, about 46%, is covered by forests. About 33% of the land is used for farming, like growing crops or for pastures where animals graze.
Around 18% of Blonay's land has buildings or roads on it. A small part, less than 1%, is made up of rivers or lakes. The town is located near Lake Geneva, which is a very famous lake. Behind the town, there's a hill called 'Les Pléiades'. Blonay sits at different heights, from about 500 meters (1,640 feet) up to 1,400 meters (4,593 feet) above sea level.
The town of Blonay includes the main village and smaller areas like Tercier, Cojonnex, and hamlets such as Les Chevalleyres.
