Ackquille Jean Pollard (born August 4, 1994), known professionally as Bobby Shmurda, is an American rapper. He is known for helping to create a music style called Brooklyn drill. He became famous around the world in 2014 with his song "Hot ...". This song reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. Because of its success, he signed with Epic Records and released his first music collection, Shmurda She Wrote, in 2014.
After a period away, Shmurda was released in February 2021. Many people celebrated his return to music.

His Music Career
Bobby Shmurda's song "Hot..." became very popular. It used music from a 2012 song called "Jackpot". The song and its music video quickly became a huge hit online in 2014.
The "Shmoney Dance"
In the video for "Hot...", Shmurda performs a special dance called the "Shmoney dance". This dance became a popular internet trend. Many famous people copied it, including Beyoncé and Jay-Z during their tour. Canadian rapper Drake also did the dance when he hosted the 2014 ESPY Awards.
Song Success and Albums
After "Hot..." became a viral sensation, Bobby Shmurda signed with Epic Records. The song officially became his first single with the label. It reached the top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart. It also hit number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was later certified platinum, meaning it sold over a million copies. Its music video had over 649 million views by July 2020.

Bobby Shmurda's first full album was planned for 2016. It was going to be made with producer Jahlil Beats. However, it was delayed. In 2017, he shared some freestyle rhymes with rapper Meek Mill. He said he was still writing music. The next year, he was featured on 6ix9ine's song "Stoopid". He recorded his part over a prison phone. This song reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.

After his release, Bobby Shmurda performed his first concert. This happened at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami, Florida, on July 23, 2021.
On September 3, 2021, he released his first new song since his return. It was called "No Time for Sleep (Freestyle)". In March 2022, he was officially released from his contract with Epic Records.
