Who is Casey Jones?
Casey's Story Begins
Casey Jones grew up in New York City, a place with a lot of crime. He saw how criminals caused trouble and decided he wanted to help. Inspired by TV shows, Casey put together his own crime-fighting gear. He chose a hockey mask and various sports clubs as his tools. This is how he started his journey as a vigilante.
First Meeting with Raphael
Casey's adventure with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles began when he met Raphael. Raphael was stopping some muggers, but Casey thought he wasn't tough enough. Casey wanted to "finish the job," but Raphael stopped him. They argued and even fought a bit. However, they soon realized they both wanted to fight crime. They teamed up to stop more muggers who showed up. This was the start of their strong friendship.
Casey in the Comics
Mirage Comics Version
Casey first appeared in a comic book about Raphael. He was created as a funny take on characters who fight crime on their own. The idea was that Casey was inspired by watching too many action TV shows.
In the Mirage series, Casey was very tough. He later helped the Turtles, Splinter, and April O'Neil when they were attacked. They all went to a farmhouse that belonged to Casey's grandmother. This farmhouse became a second home for the group. Casey officially became part of the Turtles' family around this time.
Casey later met a woman named Gabrielle, and they fell in love and got married. She had a daughter named Shadow, whom Casey raised. After some time, Casey and April O'Neil became a couple. In later comics, they got married and raised Shadow together.
Archie Comics Version
In the Archie Comics Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures series, Casey Jones was mentioned but did not actually appear in the stories.
Dreamwave Comics Version
In the Dreamwave Productions series, Casey's past was explored. When he was young, his father's shop was burned down by a group called the Purple Dragons. This event made Casey hate crime and want to fight against groups like the Purple Dragons. He believed his parents were waiting for him to make the streets safe before they could return.
IDW Comics Version
In the TMNT series from IDW Publishing, Casey is a young college student. After his mother passed away, his father became very angry. One day, Raphael saved Casey from his father's anger. Raphael was living alone on the streets at the time. Casey and Raphael quickly became good friends and fought crime together. Later, Raphael found his family, and Casey became friends with the other Turtles too.

2003 Animated Series
Casey Jones has a much bigger role in the 2003 animated series. He has a Brooklyn accent and is voiced by Marc Thompson. His personality is very similar to Raphael's.
Raphael first met Casey when Casey was trying to stop a mugging. Raphael saw a lot of himself in Casey and tried to help him control his anger. Casey eventually became a valuable friend to the Turtles. He had a very close friendship with Raphael.
Casey's past was shown in this series. When he was a child, his father's shop was burned down by the Purple Dragons. This made Casey hate crime and want to fight them. It's even hinted that he met the Turtles when they were all kids, though they didn't remember it at first!
Casey's famous battle cry is "Goongala!". This came from a young Casey trying to say a Japanese battle cry that Michelangelo was teaching him.
Casey is kind-hearted but can get angry easily. He loves motorcycles. He sees the Turtles like the little brothers he never had. He often helps them fight against the Shredder and the Foot Clan.
Casey meets April early in the series. They argue at first because their personalities are different. But over time, they start dating and have a serious relationship. In a later season, Casey asks April to marry him. They get married in the finale, with Raphael as the best man. In the future, the Turtles meet April and Casey's great-grandson, Cody Jones.
2012 Animated Series

Casey also has a friendly rivalry with Donatello because they both like April. Casey sometimes talks about himself in the third person. He is also afraid of rats, which includes Splinter a little bit.
As the series goes on, his rivalry with Donatello lessens. He becomes closer to the whole team.
