Chaenactis is a group of plants in the daisy family. People often call them pincushions or dustymaidens.
These wild flowers grow naturally in western North America. You can find many of them in the desert areas of the United States. They come in many different shapes and sizes. Generally, they look a bit like daisies. Each flower head has many small flowers called disc florets. Sometimes, they also have larger ray florets around the edges.
