Chef Tone's Music Journey
Chef Tone started his music career in 2007. He moved from Chicago to Atlanta, Georgia, to work with an entertainment manager. Within six months, he got a special deal with Atlantic Records. This deal allowed him to write and produce songs.
His first big song as a writer was "Please Excuse My Hands" for rapper Plies. This song also featured The-Dream and Jamie Foxx. It did well on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This success led to a long-term deal with Atlantic Records.
Working with Trey Songz
Atlantic Records connected Chef Tone with R&B singer Trey Songz. They worked together on many popular songs. These included "Bottoms Up", "Love Faces", "Say Aah", and "LOL :-)". Chef Tone wrote and produced these hits.
Collaborations with Other Stars
Chef Tone's success helped him learn from famous producer Dr. Dre. Chef Tone then wrote "Smoke" for 50 Cent in 2014. This song featured Trey Songz.
He also worked on songs for Jamie Foxx, Flo Rida, and Sean Paul. One of his biggest hits was "Lolly" for Maejor (also known as Maejor Ali). This song featured Justin Bieber and Juicy J.
Justin Bieber's "Heartbreaker"
Chef Tone also helped create Justin Bieber's song "Heartbreaker". This song quickly became number one on iTunes in 63 countries. It also reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was one of Chef Tone's fastest rising songs. Justin Bieber's album Journals, which included "Heartbreaker," came out in 2013.
How Chef Tone Got His Name
Chef Tone first got his nickname on the basketball court. He was known for making great passes to his teammates. These passes were called "dishes." This nickname stuck with him as he started his career in the music world. He continues to "dish out" great music!
