The College of Marin is a public college in Marin County, California. It has two main locations: one in Kentfield and another in Novato. This college is a special type of school called a community college. It's the only college run by the Marin Community College District.
The College of Marin first opened its doors in 1926. Each semester, about 10,000 students take over 1,100 different classes. Around 100 students from other countries also study here. The college was first called Marin Junior College. That was when it started in 1926. In 1947, its name changed to College of Marin. Later, in 1985, it joined with Indian Valley College. This merger gave Marin County two campuses. The original campus is in Kentfield. The Indian Valley Campus is in Novato. These two campuses serve about 250,000 people in the county.

The college has a student newspaper called The Echo Times. Students write and publish it every month.
How the College is Managed
The College of Marin is part of the Marin Community College District. This district manages the college for Marin County. The district is run by a group called the board of trustees. There are seven members on this board. They are elected by people in the community. They serve for four years.
Students also elect one student trustee. This student can join discussions and suggest ideas. However, they do not vote on certain topics. These topics include real estate or staff matters.
