The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) is a special organization in Pakistan. It was started in 1962 by the country's government. Its main job is to make sure doctors and dentists get the best training after they finish medical school.

How it Started: A Look at CPSP's History
The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan was created in 1962. This happened because of a special law passed by the Parliament of Pakistan. Wajid Ali Khan Burki, who was the Minister of Health at the time, played a big part in setting it up.
A few years later, in 1965, the college opened its own library. This library has always collected the newest medical books and research. It helps students and doctors learn and stay updated. In 1991, the college also started publishing its own medical journal. This journal shares important medical findings and research with doctors.

Special Training Courses
CPSP is the only place in Pakistan that offers official ATLS and ACS courses. These are important training programs for doctors. ATLS stands for Advanced Trauma Life Support. It teaches doctors how to quickly help people who have been seriously injured. ACS stands for Advanced Cardiac Life Support. This course teaches doctors how to treat people having heart emergencies.
What You Can Become: Qualifications Awarded
After completing their advanced training, doctors and dentists can earn special qualifications from CPSP. These show they are highly skilled in their field.
- Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (FCPS): This is a very high qualification. It means a doctor or dentist has completed extensive training and passed tough exams in a specific medical area.
- Member of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (MCPS): This qualification shows that a doctor or dentist has completed a good level of postgraduate training.
