How Edinburgh College Was Formed
In 2012, the three colleges in Edinburgh decided to become one. They thought joining together would make a stronger college. This new "Edinburgh" college would offer more to students.
The plan to merge was sent to the Scottish Government. It was approved by the Scottish Ministers. The merger officially happened on October 1, 2012. This big change helped the college grow and offer many different courses.
How Edinburgh College Gets Its Money
Edinburgh College gets most of its money from the government. The Scottish Funding Council gives a large amount of money to the college. This helps keep the college running.
Students also pay tuition fees for their courses. Other money comes from special projects and grants. The college also helps fund its students' association, ECSA. This money helps student groups and activities.
