FK Yenisey Krasnoyarsk is a Russian football club from Krasnoyarsk. They play in the Russian First League, which is the second-highest football league in Russia. The club is often called Lvy (The Lions) or Krasno-sinie (The red-blues).

Club History and Achievements

The club started in 1937 as Lokomotiv Krasnoyarsk. Over the years, its name changed several times. It was called Rassvet in 1968 and Avtomobilist in 1970. In 1991, it became Metallurg.

In 2010, the club was renamed Metallurg-Yenisey. Then, in 2011, it became Yenisey. The name Yenisey comes from the Yenisei River, which flows through Krasnoyarsk.

Yenisey never played in Russia's top football league until 2018. Their best results in the second-tier league were finishing 3rd in 2016–17 and 2017–18.

In the 2015–16 season, Yenisey almost dropped to a lower league. However, another team could not be promoted, so Yenisey stayed in the FNL.

At the end of the 2016–17 season, Yenisey had a chance to move up to the Russian Premier League. They played in special play-off games but lost to FC Arsenal Tula.

The next season, 2017–18, was very exciting. Yenisey finished 3rd again and entered the play-offs. This time, they won against FC Anzhi Makhachkala and were promoted! This was the first time in the club's history they reached the Russian Premier League.
