What's the Story About?
This book tells a different version of the American Civil War. The story takes place in 1863. In real history, the United States Army won the Battle of Gettysburg. But in this book, General Robert E. Lee and his Army of Northern Virginia win instead.
Instead of attacking the Union soldiers directly, General Lee tries a different plan. He moves his army around the Union forces. This makes the Army of the Potomac (the Union army) have to attack him. The main battle in the book doesn't happen at Gettysburg. It takes place at Union Mills in Maryland.
The Union's defeat at Union Mills is a big problem for them. But it doesn't mean the war is over. The United States still has a lot of strength and will keep fighting. This story shows how one different choice can change a major historical event.
