Where is Glamorgan Vale?
Glamorgan Vale is located in the beautiful Lockyer Valley. It's about 57 kilometers (around 35 miles) west of Brisbane, which is the capital city of Queensland.
The town is near Black Snake Creek, which flows into the Brisbane River. Because of this, parts of the town can sometimes get flooded when there's a lot of rain.
A Look Back in Time

A long time ago, in 1871, a church for the Wesleyan Methodist community opened on Tarampa Road. It was a well-built wooden building that could fit about 100 people. Local people helped to build it.
The Glamorgan Vale Post Office started operating on 1 January 1872. It stayed open for exactly 100 years, closing in 1972. The first postmaster was Thomas Pratt, who came from Somerset, England.
Thomas Pratt also ran the Glamorgan Hotel for many years, from 1880 to 1895, and again from 1898 to 1899. He and his family later moved to Ipswich and named their home "Glamorganvale" after the town. Today, the old hotel building has been updated and is now known as the Bottletree Hotel.
Glamorgan Vale State School first opened its doors on 12 July 1875. In 2015, the school celebrated its 140th anniversary! Originally, there was a house for the principal next to the school, but it was later taken down and turned into a sports field for students to play on.
