Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is a very busy airport in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.. It's often called Atlanta Airport or Hartsfield–Jackson. Since 2005, it has been the world's busiest airport. This means it handles the most passengers and has the most airplane take-offs and landings each year.

The airport serves over 107 million passengers annually. It is a major hub for Delta Air Lines. Delta's hub here is the largest for any airline in the world. The airport has 199 gates for both flights within the U.S. and international flights.

What Makes ATL So Busy?

Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport is a huge travel center. In 2010, it saw about 243,000 passengers every day. It also handled nearly a million flights that year. Many of these flights are domestic, meaning they fly to other cities inside the United States. Atlanta is a key connection point for travel across the Southeastern U.S..
