Henrik Ingebrigtsen showed great promise in running from a young age. When he was 19, he ran the 1500 meters in under 3 minutes and 40 seconds. This was a big achievement for him.
European and Olympic Success
In 2012, Henrik won a gold medal at the 2012 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki. He competed in the 1500 meters event. Later that year, he finished 5th at the Olympic Games in London. During this race, he set a new national record for Norway with a time of 3:35.43.
He continued to improve his national record in the 1500 meters. In August 2013, he ran it in 3:33.95 at a Diamond League meet in Zürich.
Setting New Records
In May 2018, Henrik won the 5000 meters race at the Payton Jordan Invitational. He set a new personal best time of 13:16.97, winning by a very small margin of 0.005 seconds. He ran the last 400 meters of that race very fast.
On June 13, 2019, he set another new Norwegian record. This time, it was for the 3000 meters race. He ran it in 7:36.85 at the Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway.
Family Life and Other Projects
Henrik and his brothers, Jakob and Filip, are well-known for their running talent. Their father, Gjert, used to coach them. In 2022, their father stopped being their coach.
The Ingebrigtsen brothers have also been featured in television shows. These include Team Ingebrigtsen, which aired from 2016 to 2021, and Ingebrigtsen: Born to Run, released in 2024.
In July 2024, Henrik, Jakob, and Filip released a pop song. The song is called Ingen gjør det bedre (Nobody Does It Better). They released it to help get Norwegians excited about their athletes for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
In June 2025, the Ingebrigtsen brothers started something new. They launched the Spring Run Club with fellow runners Karoline Bjerkeli Grovdal and Marthe Kristoffersen. This club is for anyone who wants to learn more about running. Jakob Ingebrigtsen said they want to share their knowledge and help more people enjoy running.
