Inks Lake is a large, man-made lake in the Texas Hill Country in the United States. It's a type of lake called a reservoir. People built Inks Lake in 1938. This happened when the Lower Colorado River Authority built Inks Dam.
The lake is close to Burnet, Texas. Inks Lake helps control floods, working with Lake Buchanan. It also has the smallest power plant that makes electricity from water. This plant is part of the Texas Highland Lakes chain.
Inks Lake got its name from Roy B. Inks. He was one of the first people on the board of the Lower Colorado River Authority. People love Inks Lake for fun outdoor activities. These include fishing, boating, swimming, camping, and having picnics.
Other important lakes on the Colorado River include Lake Buchanan, Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and Lady Bird Lake.
Fish and Wildlife at Inks Lake
Inks Lake is home to many kinds of fish. People have added fish to the lake over time. This makes it a great spot for fishing. You can find fish like largemouth bass, white bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish here.
Inks Lake is special because its water level stays very steady. It changes by less than one foot each year. This helps the fish and other wildlife.
